Childhood Police Lyric Mishearings

When I was 10 years old I didn't know about Nabokov. So it was only natural that during "Don't stand" I sang..

"THAT BOOK BY NOW BECAUSE!"

Made no sense but I thought those were the words.

Now the rest of you....'FESS UP ON YOURS!

"Who rose the price up?/ A hotel room's a prison cell.........." (Does anyone know for certain what that line actually is--from "Man In A Suitcase")

"Caught between decision and what is this" (Can't remember exactly)

The sad thing is that when I was in grade school and Jr High I was WAY into Greek mythology. I even went to this educational summer camp so I could take a class on Greek and Roman myths. (I blame Clash of the Titans and Xanadu) So if anyone should have gotten "Scylla and Charybdis" it was me.

I believe it's:

"the world's my oyster, my hotel room's a prison cell"

There are a couple of threads here on SCnet with misheard lyrics as well. I'm sure a search would come up with a few doozies.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

and

"How my pure heartache"
"Loa-ded, and ready for a-ction! [wink]"

Another very obscure song for me was "Contact"

"I'd come on over but I haven't got a wrinkle
Hope we get contact you and me
Hope we got touched down"

[Must say that at the time I had no idea of American football and Botox didn't exist...]
"Loa-ded, and ready for a-ction! [wink]"

Perhaps Sting should come with subtitles.

It's not exactly misheard lyrics but I would sing along to Hungry For You and, having no knowledge of french at the time, mangle those words beyond all recognition. If any French person would have heard me, they would have shot me on the spot.

"Door ring two Jews fem detox!"

I have had some french lessons since then.
