Augh - I'm in a ticket quandry!

So there's a listing for some tickets on ebay that are just what I'm looking for to "upgrade" one night, and the price is reasonable (looks like face+fees, and is a lot less than what comparable tickets are listing for on StubHub right now).

However, the seller has no feedback, has a new ebay account just to sell these and another pair of tickets. They are print-at-home tickets which apparently he himself bought off Stubhub and now isn't using.



I really want the fuckers but I just SO don't want to get screwed over...

I may tell the guy if he wants to offer me the same tickets, at that price, through StubHub if they don't sell on ebay (the auction closes tonight), I'd take them. But I'm not going to buy already 2nd-hand tickets without some kind of backup guarantee in place.

If the tix were hard, then I might go for it. But since they're electronic -- and you WON'T have the StubHub guarantee -- I personally wouldn't do it. Not from a seller with zero feedback. I've turned down similar options already because of the high risk factor.

You might want to try to ask the seller if he's willing to sell them through StubHub -- and of course, even then you could still get screwed, but at least through StubHub you have the *possibility* of getting new tix if the tix are fake/double-sold. But I personally wouldn't trust a seller who has no history -- and I would question why the tix are now listed on eBay instead of back on StubHub. To me that's a bit too risky.

But that's just me. Don't know if that helps, but that's how I'd look at it.

It does help DM, thanks! I think I just needed some extra rational voices to convince me of how I was already leaning.

There are similar options up on StubHub right now, but I guess I will wait and see how long the sellers there can hold out on their asking prices (still too steep at the moment for me) before they're forced to drop 'em just to unload. And just hope I don't miss the chance on the tickets I'd really like to get.

I've been very very lucky scoring great tickets at the last minute and so I'd hope that you would have similar luck in waiting it out just a bit more...but I'm a cat and so the other party will always blink before me! <grin>

Last minute tickets are always popping up. Didn't someone have an extra Hershey ticket just hours before? I wouldn't take a chance. If it was cheap nosebleed seats, maybe, but I'd be hurting more over the loss of $200+ than I would over having a so-so seat.

If you really want the tickets, and are willing to take a bit of a risk, try this. Email the seller and tell him you'll bid but you must meet in person to pick up the tickets. If they agree to that, meet at a bank. I would also be obvious about taking their license plate number, as in let them see you do it. Complete the transaction in front of the atm machine, and just explain that your brother is a "real" cop. Be polite and explain that he is always looking out for you, that's why you have to do this in the bank, because if anyone was trying to con his poor sister, the bank will have the whhole transaction on film, and it would be too easy to press charges. Other than that, my advice would be no deal.

You can also try a website called Kijiji, they have a ton of tickets for sale there.
