Peter Gabriel's Instrumental 'Big Time'

Postby Kalypso on 19 Jul 2007 17:18

I am against that too, Dude, but let at least me pay for the postage and any expense involved!

Lemme know if you can do it. I doubt I have the patience to wait for the official DVD release and I think that the new tour DVD will take the lead anyway.

Please????? :?: :?: :?: :?:

I'll see if I can't put together a zip file with the instumental Big Time and Across the River to share with y'all. Anyone familiar with gigasize & it's inner workings? Is it free, etc.?

I can see some intense interest for ATW, so I'll certainly see what I can do to accomodate....I'll post more in this thread when I figure the whole DVD copying thing out.

While Stewart played only the hi hat on Red Rain, I was pretty sure he played the whole kit on the album version of So, not just on the instrumental version

It's clear to me listening to the album version of Big Time that it's Stewart on the hats and the drums are programmed. Check out this link and compare it to the album version....

I'm heading to the links section right now to post this link to the zip file I created and uploaded to gigasize. I included the instrumental version and extended version of 'Big Time' since I figured there's no such thing as too much hi-hat work from THE MAN. Also included is 'Across the River', and Peter's take on reggae with a version of 'Get Up, Stand Up'. ENJOY!!

Thanks Three over Four. I had thought that the liner notes for So had credited Stewart for playing drums on Big Time and just hi hat on Red Rain. However, it has been many years since I've looked at that CD, which I no longer have (long story). Also, my ear tells me that it seems like Stewart is only playing hi hat on Big Time with the rest being programed.

Just check the liner notes of So. It states hi hat only for Red Rain but indeed credits Copeland for "drums" on Big Time. The only other drummer credited on Big Time is Jerry Marotta, but only for "drumstick bass," whatever that is.

Maybe Stewart programmed the drum part for Big Time in addition to playing the hats?

Here, here. I also have the instrumental version - Peter is in my top 3 artists of all time lists. Peter and Stewart together - just heaven... now throw in a little Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois and we've got a match made in heaven!

Anyone know who says "Hi there" at the beginning of Big Time. Call me crazy, but to me that sounds kind of like Stewart
