THE POLICE raid the Motor City

Holy crap people! I can't even describe the feeling from what I experienced yesterday night in Detroit. It was pure adrenaline pumping, ass kicking Police music shacking the rafters in a 25,000+ seat sell out.

I never thought the boys could be any tighter than they were, but I was happily proven wrong. I declare that they sounded betterthan when I saw them in '83. Sting's voice was spot on and he was feeling the crowd and fed off the energy surging through the arena. Andy was tearing it up like he was on a personal mission from God himself, and Stewart was in such a zone, I don't think a run-a-way train barreling across the stage could have broken his concentration.

I didn't sit down the entire concert and danced and jumped and sang (even if it waspoorly) like I hadn't done so in 20 years.

I'm still reveling in the majestry that unfolded before me and will hopefully be able to post some pics soon. Don't expect anything stellar since it's hard to get great pics in a dark stadium with a hand held camera. I'll post some vids as well.

Once again, The Police are back and with God as my witness they have proven once again that no band new or old today can match the power, talent, energy or charisma that is THE POLICE!

Thank you, Stewart, Andy and Sting. You made me feel like I was 16 again, but most importantly you made me the happiest man on earth even if it was just for a few hours.

Wow...it's amazing how this show affects people. I know it sounds all goopy to say it was really EMOTIONAL, but it's like you said, it was almost like a different band, they were SO much better than 25 years ago...more comfortable in their own skins, or something. I never thought I'd be dancing and singing through a whole show, but hell, everybody was!

I'm glad you posted this...it's everything I was thinking and didn't know how to say!

What blew me away was Sting's mention of their Bookies 870 show back in the late 70s. My brother was there, feeling like he was practically standing on Mr Copelands drum kit. He was profoundly convinced of Stewarts talent and a big fan of the Police ever since. Of course he passed down the enthusiasm to me.

Would love to know if Stewart has any memories of it.

I saw them myself in 1982 at Cobo Arena.

Glad to see the boys rocked Detroit Rock City again. It's called that for a reason. Some of the best live shows you will ever see are there in my hometown.

Thanks Jan - Divemistress took that photo on the tiny stage at The Hope & Anchor when she was over in London a-visiting. She has a corresponding photo of her on the stage too in an Elvis-esque pose! It reminds me of what an awesome time we had that day.

I just a had what could be compared to a hotflash but instead it was a Policeflash. Euphoric.

Damn, what an incredible show in Detroit. I can't believe how great everything sounded and looked. I thought the stage was perfect. Not one visual obstruction (wide-open) of the stage or band member. The Palace was designed and engineered with concerts, as well as sports, in mind and they did it right. The sound was spectacular. Every note and vocal was clear as a bell.

Please Stewart, Sting and Andy come back to Detroit! Just a hopeful wish.

Can't wait for a reunion tour DVD! Please include the Detroit show in at least one song.
