... jeez man, they don't make it easy. presale starts tomorrow morning and they have not even explained if general admission tickets will get you closer to the stage, or reserved seats. there is no seating plan there either, at ticketmaster, for the mcg or aami stadium, for this show. and i'll bet that whilst i'm on the phone to the venue tomorrow morning, the tickets will be selling all the while. this is poorly organised.

i glad to hear that because i couldn't help wondering why I couldn't see the seating plan

Me I am just buying high price seat and keeping my finger crossed because i will be there no matter what.

I think all Melbourne prices are reserved tickets
between 150 - 250 AUD

THE POLICE IN AUSTRALIA

Postby PT5150 on 18 Jul 2007 10:08

From the Herald sun...........

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/ ... 24,00.html

Police release tour datesArticle from: Font size: Decrease Increase Email article: Email Print article: Print Cameron Adams

July 18, 2007 12:00am
RE-FORMED rock trio the Police will return to Melbourne in January.

They will play at the MCG on Australia Day, Saturday, January 26.

Tickets will go on sale on July 30 from Ticketmaster.

The Police split soon after their legendary gig at the Melbourne Showgrounds in 1984 in front of 50,000 fans.

In 2008 the trio -- Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland -- will be the first rock band to play the MCG since the venue's renovations were finished last year.

About 65,000 tickets will be sold for the show, making it the biggest rock concert Melbourne has seen since Guns N' Roses played to 66,000 fans at Calder Park in 1993.

Drummer Copeland spoke of their Melbourne finale 23 years ago, with a young Bryan Adams as their support act.

"I still have the confetti from the last time I was in Australia, from Melbourne, the last show," Copeland joked.

"We had so much confetti landing on us that it's still falling out of my old flight cases. I was coughing it up for the next two years."

The reformation has thrilled fans and the band's bank managers.

Two million tickets have been sold for the US and European legs of the tour, with the trio reported to be making $115 million.

Their set, including Message in a Bottle, Walking on the Moon, Don't Stand So Close, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic, Can't Stand Losing You, Roxanne, King of Pain, Every Breath You Take and De Do Do Do De Da Da has reignited sales of their back catalogue.

Despite their famous stoushes, band members have relished the chance to relive their heyday on the world's big stages.

Copeland said he did not hesitate when Sting asked him and Summers late last year to re-form.

"Do you wanna go out and play stadiums across the world to tens of thousands of people singing every word of every song? It's a no-brainer, really," Copeland said.

"For me, it's not a career move. For Sting, it's a career move and Andy somewhat as well.

"I'm a hobbyist. I guess I can call myself pro now because now, finally, I've eliminated everything else from my life.

"Now I am a drummer in a rock band, only.

"I'm no longer a film composer or doing 10 other things."

Promoter Michael Gudinski said the MCG show would be limited to about 65,000 tickets to get the best sound.

"The MCG is our greatest stadium and the band are really looking forward to the challenge of playing there," he said.

Two support acts are set to be added to the bill, one likely to be an international act.

Tickets will cost $99, $150 and $250.
