FAVOURITE STEWART QUOTES
OK, I have to ask. Is there a DVD version of ATW that you know of?
I mean, who uses VCRs anymore?
I'm pretty sure there was word that Around The World was going to get a DVD release this year, but I can't remember if it was official word or just rumour. Fingers crossed for a shitload of extras.

Yes Hannaha & Kalypso, if you go to the main page of this website & scroll down you'll find this:

"The word is out, the medias are waiting for the definitve answer to the same old question: are The Police coming back on stage in 2007 to celebrate their 30th Annyversary since the release of their first single? Nothing's confirmed by now; A&M will release some new interesting and great items that will see the light during the year: 'The Police Around The World' on dvd, one of the best video release ever The Police released back in 1981, and a second box set, the sequel of 'Message In A Box' (Vol. 2), full of tracks not included in the first box released in the mid-Nineties."

So, as The SC Resident Cellist, would you advise me to wait or try and download it somewhere?

I highly value your opinion and think you have a bright future in front of you since somebody might very well compose a symphony with a cello solo...

S'up to you sweetpea... I think the official release may include The Police In The east as well so it could be worth waiting for. There was a full length version of ATW on youtube for a while last year, don't know if it's still there.

I am SO never gonna write a symphony! My music theory sucks!

Ah yes, I see your point! Sadly I wouldn't want to go ruining his greatest work... might nominate my little sister for that though - she's a proper cello prodigy.

My mum used to play too and my big sister is a violinist. My dad is a singer songwriter. We are like the Von Trapps!

Kalypso-
hurt my back the other night. apologies. that post came after 2 big glasses of NZ pinot gris and a vicodin.

I barely remembered my children's names- but I did count 3 little heads safe and sound asleep!

However, Percocet is better.

Very similar background. Both grandads clarinet players in the Opera Theatre. Dad graduated from saxophone and clarinet to conduction, arrangement and composition. Middle brother leads a prog-rock band and writes ballets and arrangements on the side.
I have been a professional backing vocalist for 12 years and used to play bass and piano. Sadly, all this was over in the 90s for me, when I found myself too shy to pursue a music career and put to use my other degrees.
But we have elective affinities.... 8)
