The Police "can't crack" their *own song*?

I wonder if it's a vocal-range issue?

I mean, one of the key selling points to me of the original version was Sting's high pitched opening ("Young teacher...") over that dark, brooding undercurrent. If he can't hit those notes any longer, maybe he thinks the whole thing needs to be changed up?

you must have a special remix, because in the original studio version, the first verse ("young teacher," as you say....) is sung in a lower register. *not* a high pitch opening at all. Live, Sting always sang it high.

You're right, my bad. I must have the rendition from "Around the World" burned in my brain right now or something.

SpecA! - do you agree that that in Message it's awesome? - the way Copeland comes into the first verse full out and solid. I think it freakin rocks!!!

Cheers.
I whole heartedly agree. Don't Stand is locked just like Message. They should have learned this in 1986 but sometimes people have a hard time appreciating their own work for what it is.

I think the show intro is just perfect. Stewart's big-ass gong, then BAM! the lights go on and the crowd goes out of its mind...

I'm glad they didn't try to open with EBYT. Speaking of The Hits.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!
