Did anyone catch the 'Broken Music' tour? My impression is that he stayed pretty faithful to the old Police tracks. I remember seeing them play Next To You on Letterman and, dare I say, it was punkier and louder than the original Police version.

Did anyone catch a show on that tour? I wonder if he rearranged any of the old tracks...

First, Sting doing Police songs is better than nobody doing Police songs. Not quite the Police, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

I loved the Broken Music tour. It was closer, but still not quite the real thing. I think Sting knew it too, but wasn't quite ready to swallow his pride.

Second, as far as the lute thing goes.... One time, at band camp....

LOL!

I saw a clip of Spirits being played on the broken music tour and it was outstanding. The added guitar over the main rhythm played by dominic added a quality to the track without getting in the way. I understand that spirits on the police tour ain't working, but on the atlanta live album it sounds great, wish they would play it that way

no, i didn't see broken music... i should have, but i gave up on sting a while ago. i used to go see him every tour up until mercury falling, but then i stopped. his ticket prices are outrageous for the venues i would go to and his shows are the same.... although i have to say that i have not heard many people or bands live that SOUND as good as him. i just gave up on paying to see the same thing over and over. honestly, i liked hearing his solo music, but i hated when he did police songs. that was my biggest fear with this tour. i didn't want them to sound like they were on lithium, like sting's versions.... and they don't, so i'm happy.

spirits won't work without the keys in my opinion. andy plays it and it just doesn't sound right live and it never did.

As much as I dislike the guy, he wrote those ditties and can do what he likes with them.
The live version of When the world on Bring on the Night is one of the most fantastic things I have ever heard.
But the MAGIC sprinkle....

I'm not crazy about the way he does Police tunes as solo but I'll tell you, he did a version of Omegaman years ago and I was just blown away. It had kind of a metal sounding lead to it and when he was done the crowd roared with approval. I kept arguing with a few noobs that this was a remake of an old song but some people just don't get it.
All made up and nowhere to go,
