someone else has my name...

someone else has my name...

Postby policerule on 28 Jun 2007 22:49

i have not registered at the police site until now. when i registered, not to my surprise, someone had my screen name. now, i have used this name for 7 or more years as my screen name everywhere, ebay, poker, etc...

when i got on this site, i naturally used it without a thought of how common it might be simply because i've always called myself "policerule".

to the point... if anyone reads anything from this IMPOSTOR on that site, please do not associate their comments with me.

thanks all!

You need to register as "theREALpolicerule".

Or do what football players do when they're traded to a new team and someone is using their uniform number. Buy it off him/her!

Or just have them killed. It might be easier that way. "If you can slip a tablet into someone's coffee, then it avoids an awful lot of mess..."

ugh!

i'm over it. 8)

Somehow I got lucky with sockii...I've been using it on line since 1994 and knock on wood have yet to stumble across any impostors or fake sockii's anywhere. Heh heh. It's stuck amazingly well, too.

And if anyone here can actually guess how I came across THAT nickname, well, I'll have to think of some sort of prize for ya. But it's not gonna be easy.

policerule, the same happened to me. Mrs. Gradenko and Dive told me that they saw my name on that site, but was not me...

It hurts, but just a little bit.

Sockii- interestingly enough there's a Socki (one I) from Pittsburgh on the Subaru Forester forums I'm on. I had to take a double take cause I knew you were from PA!

I've been lucky with Spec A! and specialanthony, none have taken those in any forum/website I'm on.

i don't know sockii.... i'm not even sure i could venture a guess on that one

2 socks?

you wear your socks to bed?

does it have something to do with actual socks?

you are an alcoholic and you only drink japanese rice wine?

i give up. it's a good name though!

no one really has bootling either... by name is betsy and some call me "boots" and it evolved into "bootling". i should have just used that on here i guess, but i wasn't thinking and i don't wan to change it now.

When I first saw "sockii," I had two separate thoughts: a kind of sock (I remember some sock being named Sock II, but I'm not sure why it was a sequel) and (with a different pronunciation) sockeye salmon.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Even though I've heard (and subsequently forgotten) the sockii story, it always makes me think of sock monkeys that we had when were kids when I see sockii's name.

I have been Jeff Da Weasel for many years.

It all started when I wrote an article for a music/audio magazine once, in the late '90s. I was sick of all the bullshit little author bios that you see at the end of an article. Most of them say something like, "Bill Williams is a noted expert on tree bark, and lives with his wife and three sons in the Pacific Northwest," or something similar.

So, for my bio on this article, I had them put (with names redacted), "In addition to being a lifelong musician and engineer, Jeff Xxxxxxx is the king marketing weasel of Xxxx Corporation."

And it stuck. I figured that since eveyone else called people in my profession "marketing weasels", I might as well go with it instead of fighting it. :)
