How much would you pay to see the boys play Synch 1?

This subject came up at the dinner table last night.

It'd be a lot, I think. What I'd pay.

:)

I'd give da weasel's left nut (and maybe even his right one) for "A Sermon."
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

7€ for "Englishman in New York" - but they would have to make sure that there is a camera on Stus face for the whole FUCKING* song ... !

Hey! Stop using my nads for currency!!!

Back to the question: Sync I is nearly impossible to play live. Here's why: you need two lead vocalists to do the parts that intertwine, as in "a connecting principle/Linked to the invisible/Almost imperceptible..." and so on.

So unless Stew really feels like stepping up (since Andy sure as hell ain't gonna do it), I doubt you'll hear it any time soon.

I'd give DM's left tit to hear Omegaman live just once, though. :D

Hey now, weasel -- *I* NEVER offered my body parts. You, on the other hand, er, nad . . . So I guess your left nut is off the table now? :P

In which case, I'd give a whole lot for "A Sermon."

Who's got What on the table?!?! Didn't your mother tell you it's bad manners to put your nuts on the table.

I know it's a bit laid back but I'd drop some coin to see Does Everyone Stare.

I'd give up my Scarlett Johansen avatar, since I was STRONG ARMED into giving it up. So I have no use for it and yet I see certain women posting things about Stu's "camel toe". Anyway, I digress, I don't know of a price but I'd give up some "classic " Police songs in exchange to hear that live. Jeff's point is well made though. Just to tough to do at this point.

I dont think that I'd enjoy a slowed down version of Synch 1 in a different key...

When I saw them in 1983, they were touring with three backing vocalists. I might be wrong about this (it's been a long time and my brain has been through a lot since then), but I believe that when they did Sync I, they rotated through the female singers so they could each take a line and sustain the end note, as Sting does on the album.

In the real three-piece setup, it would be super hard to figure a way to arrange it, as I referenced earlier.

Another thing (man, I am really bumming Dive's high here): while Stewart is triggering a few loops and rhythmic motifs on this tour (very well, I may add), Sync I is purely a synthesizer-driven tune. the whole stacatto burst at the start and most of the interesting stuff in the middle is the sequenced synth.

To play it, Stewart has to stay locked to a click (a metronome in his earpiece, basically), and you have no room for improvisation... and God help you if you get off by a half bar.

So, that's why you probably won't hear Sync I in this live format.

Omegaman, on the other hand, could be done! Could be... if Sting-o wanted to do an Andy tune.
