So where were you guys, I can't believe I wasan't able to spot even one of you. I got a text part way through that the party we were going to was crap, so I asked my bf if we could show you guys around, and after he was done making fun of me for being on a forum... he agreed.

Ahh well, we found ways to intertain ourselves, no since wasting my very rare 5 am curfew.... ok it was 2, but we stretched it, SO worth it.

What did you guys do, did Conroy get his BBQ?

Let's just say that it was an awesome night.

The only thing that I didn't like was Don't Stand So Close To Me. I just didn't like the new changes to it.

And I'm glad the guys tried to move around on stage more. I was kind of worried from the previous reviews that I've read. Too bad they didn't have a B-stage or a looping stage that went out into the audience. They did the best they could with what they had.

From a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest, I gave them a 9.

Now my friends that saw them back in '83 gave it about a 7.

We were happy, but there was a bit of room for improvement.

I thought Stewart was the best...he ROCKED!

Oh, and I bought a Police blinky light. Those were cool!

All in all, for my very first Police show, I was a happy camper!

And most of all, I'm glad everyone made it to and from the show safely. Sorry that Dallas was literally drowning. This is the third highest record rainfall ever so far, but they're saying we might beat it in the next few days if this keeps up. Usually this time of year, it's sunny and in the upper 90's almost in the 100's. We need the rain and the cooler air is nice, but this is ridiculous!

Hey folks, we'll start a Dallas 2 thread tomorrow. Gina and I had a b*l*a*s*t. Some folks from Sting.com and TPT also made it out. The band was phenomenal - again. "Next to You" blew the roof off the joint. I swear I'm getting obsessed with the new version of "Bed's Too Big."

There's lots more to tell, but I'm running on fumes at this point. I'll leave you with one tidbit of info, though: Stewart can spot an SC.net t-shirt from a fair distance.

We were sorry to have missed some of you this go-round. We just had a lot of people and action going on. Something tells me this won't be our last opportunity to get together, though.

Dallas was definitely amazing. It's seriously going to take me a little while to write up a full blog (especially as I have to get back to work full-steam the next few days to catch up), but it was just incredible all around and I'll be flying on a serious high from it for a few weeks, I'm sure.

The show was terrific--I was on the floor dead center about 12 rows back in a sea of Best Buy VIPs who weren't TOO annoying (except for a couple of drunks behind us who kept trying to start up a round of "eeeeee-yos" at inopportune moments.) I had a perfect view of Sting (oh well), a decent view of Stewart (especially on the percussion stage), but sadly Andy was blocked most of the time from my view by a tall guy in front of me (this is why I prefer low side-stage seats to the floor in general). The band seemed really tight and just blasted through the set--highlights for me were surprisingly "Roxanne" (the jamming was fab) and "Wrapped Around Your Finger" (I just LOVE what Stewart does with the percussion on this one). Sting's voice blew me away--I've never been more impressed by his singing than I was last night. I was hoping for a scissor-kick or two out of Andy but maybe he's still recovering from L.A., so I'll forgive him for taking it easy.

But what really made the trip so special was hanging out with our sc.net crew before the show, and especially then late into the night afterwards. I have to say Stewart fans are some of the best people out there and when we get together, awesome stuff happens. I can't wait to go to another show with y'all soon.

ok back at work but my evaluation of Dallas....as a "Policer" from the 70's and 80's---I thought first of all Fiction Plane was very good and I see signs of papa in that one...then reggae music and my spine is tingling..wow is this the real thing...plus sockii next to me awestruck...we are 12 rows from front center floor....in the darkness you see stewart and andy, then strutting in is sting...holy s***- this is real....and im definately a "gong guy" for secret reasons (haha sockii)...I thought they sounded great and full of energy...in retrospect i think if you see them after a few days break you get a "great show"...I didnt sit at all and we were lucky with the "best buy" freebies nearby not getting into it and jumping about.
And the "black shirted" crew was so nice...great to meet divemistress "in the flesh" (get it sockii!!) gina and conroy...we definately had a blast with the crew...when is our "reunion"...im not waiting 23 years....looking forward to more shows and I am so glad with all my heart sockii got to see "The Police"...she deserves it more than anybody I know....is Pink floyd far behind???

For all the people who didn't have a problem with sound or understanding what Sting was saying, were you on the floor? I was off to the side (Sting's side) in the upper tiers. What's weird is that I could understand every word sung but not spoken. That's not just because I know all the songs.

I hope the second show was just as good, because I'm still on a high from Tuesday. Can't wait to hear how shows go later on in the tour.

BTW--did anyone notice on the home page that the Ghost in the Machine Gateshead concert is now available on DVD? In Europe? HEY, HOW 'BOUT THE US????

Just wanted to reiterate what everyone in this thread has been saying: it was a great show. Sat on Andy's side 2 rows up from the floor - if on the floor would have been about row 10. In the middle of WOTM I finally reaized I was actually there and not watching from, uh, somewhere else. Highlight songs for me: Synch II, WOTM, Driven To Tears, ELTSDIM, Wrapped, Footsteps, Reggatta (love the double build up) and So Lonely. I was really surprised how much I loved ELTSDIM and Wrapped - not that I don't like the songs but I just really enjoyed those more than I thought I would. And I have to say that Don't Stand didn't bother me - kinda liked it in fact. And as much as I love the fast Truth Hits I really liked the new version as well. Sting hit the high notes, Andy ripped some great solos and Stew was a freak of nature - a machine. As my buddy said after the show, "that dude is intense." The leaps from the percussion set up to the kit were really highlights - the build up makes the snare crack all that more awesome. Thanks to the boys for making me feel 15 again for a night.

Anyway, great show. Would have loved to have been able to meet some SC.netters but I was with a large group that had previous plans and then there was the constant downpour of rain...

As it turned out, there was a great BBQ place across from the Doubletree called Buck's Prime. It was divey and unassuming on the outside (and it was right next to a message place where it looks like you could get one with a happy ending), but on the inside it was great. I'll talk more about it in my blog post (which ain't gonna be done anytime soon) but every single person that ate there while I was there complimented the people running it about how great it was. They had cheesecake, but I was too full to eat any of it. Unfortunately, everyone else was flight delayed so I had to go by myself.
