I wish I could find it somewhere. I'm sure I can dig up an old yearbook, perhaps within the bowels of one of my closets or the garage.
But on June 9, 1983, I saw The Police along with 74,999 other people at a venue that, to the best of my knowledge, had never been used for a big pop/rock concert, and may never have been used since. It was Hollywood Park, a horse racing track.
Anyway, unlike the 2007 tour, I actually bought a memento, and it was a gray sleeveless t-shirt with the faces of the three boys on the front, and the tri-colored Synchronicity stripes on the back. Damn, I wish I still had that shirt (not that I wear sleeveless T's too often, or at all, these days).
So, that fall, it was time to go back to school. As usual in Southern California, September is our most blistering hot month (more so than June, July or August, most years), and also as usual, I completely forgot it was picture day at school. So, I showed up not in a preppy polo shirt or a formal button-down affair, but in my sleeveless Police T.
I can't say my parents were thrilled about the casual nature of the resulting photo, but somewhere around here, I do have actual evidence of my 25-year+ Police fandom obsession. If I can find it, I'll scan it and post it.
Bird in a flying cage you'll never get to know me well.
