I was up till 4:30. Taking a bathroom break, seeing if others have posted yet....gonna try to grab a few more ZZZZs so I won't crap out during tonight's performance.

In a word: phenomenal. Like a different band from Bonnaroo. I actually cried during a couple of numbers.

They did it. They really are back. I don't really have words to describe how, much my mind is blown, actually.

I started tearing up during Truth Hits Everybody...it really was the band we've waited so long to see.

I would give most of the credit for the improvement to Sting. Andy was outstanding, as usual, but Sting seemed lots more engaged, and his voice. Wow. That voice. Stewart was...I mean, how can you describe it? Any words will sound weak and vapid. My advice to you: Go buy every ticket for this tour you can find. Start hocking stuff. I'm serious.

I did get some camera-phone video I'll post in a little while.

OK, I'm still pretty tired and out of it, so I'll let the more articulate of our number weigh in. Some folks had early flights today, so it may be a little while till they can hop online. I'm staying for tonight's show too, so I'll take notes for the group.

Thanks for thinking of us. Oh, I got my bag, and am very sorry we had to miss the fan get-together before the show. Long story involving coordinating a lot of different hotels and people....

Embarrassingly (for I am a macho, macho man), my eyes welled up a little during my show for the same reason.

Couple more things: Gina is fine, but she's pretty tired, so it may be a bit till you hear from her.

The new arrangements are really starting to gel. "Truth Hits" and "Bed's" were the two best, I thought. "Do Do Do" still needs a little polish. (One of our number noticed a problem with one of the choruses last night, but it wasn't disastrous.) "Voices" was a real standout. "Walking" was amazing. They did perform "Invisible Sun." They've cut "Spirits," tho.

Heh. Not a crier here either, but I had a moment after Sting announced "on the drums, Mr. Stewart Copeland" and the crowd went into a riotous ROAR at the end of Opening Night.

I can't accurately say that I welled up with "pride" (since I have absolutely nothing to do with SC's accomplishments obviously), so I guess it was an overwhelming sense of happiness for him at that moment that brought tears to me eyes. Awesome, in the true sense of the word.

Yeah, I kept having that too (I think I'm giving up on going back to sleep, here. The room-darkening shades in this hotel aren't working for squat.)

I guess it's just that we all know how much this means to them, and seeing them be *that* good...well, it was really terrific to feel like we may all have played a part by encouraging the band, keeping the flame alive for so many years, going into paroxysms of joy over the tour announcement, and generally being our wild wacky selves.

It didn't hurt that I had a pretty good seat last night thanks to the fan club. Let me see if I can get some of this lo-fi video online here shortly so you can take some of it in for yourselfs.

Sorry, I have to brag a little.. I took a major gamble that actually paid off. When I got my presale tix, I messed up by being too picky on the ticketmaster site and I got "locked out" for 24 hours. I was immersed in great depression until the next day, and the only thing I found remaining for $90 were upper deck seats, 2/3rds of the way back and farther. I kept searching a few more and then section 103 for $90 (lower level right on the side of the stage) popped up with the scary disclaimer that said: "Warning Seats May Be Obstructed" I said what the hell and grabbed them, hoping for the best.

My wife and I have attended 2 Police concerts prior to this- but this one was one to remember! We were 24 rows up on the side of the stage, lower level elevation, great view of the whole stage, especially Stewart and Andy- I mean, close enough to see Stewart's momentary frustration toward a drum tech as his earpiece cable was coming lose after one of his many moves between percussion setups! There was no lighting or stacked monitor issues at all- totally clear view. We even had a video screen directly above for the occasional closeup frontal view.

Can somebody please, please tell Sting to get some wardrobe advice? He was wearing skintight stretch pants, big boots and a sleeveless shirt that was way too short, riding up a few inches above his waist- the view from behind as he moved around the stage was about the farthest thing from cool. Stewart and Andy both looked great on the other hand- Stewart in white pants, gloves, and colorful athletic shirt... Andy in black pants and jacket, complete with Southpark cartoon guitar strap. Lighting was great- from where we were sound was excellent for the most part as well. Stings voice is still strong and the boys played their hearts out- I don't know how they can deliver that energy and sincerity night after night! I actually caught a few quick smiles and glances between the boys throughout the show- I think they are having the time of their middle aged lives... hopefully Stewart does not have a heart attack- we were so close, my wife made that observation toward the end of the show, based on the ferocity that Stewart was attacking the skins

Glad to hear you had so much fun. They just burnt Denver to the ground they were s hot. Anyone notice how great Invisible Sun sounded? Not my favorite Police song but damn that sounded sweet. Sting's base was so loud a few times the vibrations made people noses itch. God I hope I get to see them again.

So, what is it about Truth Hits? Seems a lot of us are having a "moment" during that song.....

If you haven't already, check out the dream set list thread- haven't posted but I love some of those. I'd love to see more of the GitM songs swapped out with some of the Synchronicity songs well, at least now that I have seen those 2x.... selfish I know. Hoping maybe in the post- Europe shows they might change some things around a bit....
That would make sense as by then, a lot of people will be seeing them the second time around...

It was SO good! Yeah I would have liked it a little better if it was a bit faster, but still.

There was a nice view of Stewart walking up to the area above the drums...

I noticed most bathroom breaks were taken during Synchronicity songs.

I could understand Sting fine, just not Joe.

We weren't even sure we were going to make it to the show. The streets were flooded... oh it was a mess.

At the very end when they were walking of stage, Stewart stopped and turned around once or twice, because the claps and roars got louder and louder... it was like everyone was trying to keep them from leaving. And we were. If we clapped loud enough, would we get another song?
