Getting to & from Dodger Stadium a nightmare

I can look back and say that I survived.

Getting to: Left The Omni Hotel in a taxi. Traffic on Sunset was insane. He finally drove down some side streets and dropped my wife and me around a mile from Dodger Stadium. We had to walk up a steep hill just to get to the parking lot. We finally get to the gate and they say you have fieild tickets you have to go downstairs. Must have walked down over 200 stairs. At least we didn't have to go up.

Getting from: Left the stadium with 55k fans. I was told to go to the 76 gas station they have a taxi stand. We got there and there wasn't a cab to be found. Must have been over 100 people looking for cabs. A Policeman told everyone to follow traffic up to stadium way. You will be able to get a taxi there. Well now i'm walking up hill for a few miles. Next thing I know i'm at the 110 freeway!. My wife and I finally found an intersection at Park and Academy. There must have been at least 60 people waiting for taxis. We all called Yellow Taxi and repeatly was told that they were sending a whole bunch of taxis down our way. Two hours later not 1 cab. A couple of people who were waiting for a cab jumped on back a flat bed pick-up and said take us downtown. We have a lot of money. It was crazy. Finally at 2:00Am a cab pulled up my wife and I jumped in and were joined by 5 other people. At last back to our hotel at 3:ooam. Was it worth it? You BET!!!

I heard reports on the Foo board that traffic was a nightmare getting in and out of the stadium. A lot of Foo folks pissed off because they ended up missing half of their set thanks to the traffic/parking problems at the venue.

Wow, I didn't have any problems at all, and I live an hour away. We got to the stadium at about 5:15pm, and tailgated until the Foo Fighters came on. A fantastic night! Great weather, and the guys sounded like they were having a blast. I saw the show at the Honda Center two nights before and they just as good, contrary to newspaper reports. If you're not familiar with So Cal, you have to leave plenty of time available to go where you need to go. You can never predict the traffic here. Sorry to hear your experience was such a nightmare.

I've lived here in the LA area since I was a small kid, 1975. We are not exactly known for our excellence in public transportation, or any transportation for that matter. Sorry you ran into this.

The reason why the old saying goes "nobody walks in LA"? They can't! You pretty much HAVE to have a car here.

In stark contrast, I went to the Seattle shows via the monorail, and it was GREAT! In and out in like 15 minute each way, for around $4.

If you read my last sentence friend you will see that i said it was worth it!!

Would do it again tomorrow!

I just chalk it down to an experience. Most everything in life is so preditible so a few detours a long the way make life fun and interesting. Although being in a unfamilar area with my flight leaving for Chicago the next morning made things a little stressfull.
