So who here has kids?

Postby mairinpgh on 24 Jun 2007 15:39

1 daughter who is 2 1/2, 1 son who is "percolating" & due in Aug. (thus my crankiness about not being able to travel to any Police gigs this year)

Anyway, I was a late starter myself - I am staring down the big 40 this year.

As for some of you other 30-somethings, don't let anyone guilt you about being "childless" or your "choices". Enjoy life, take things as they come - everything else is total b.s.!

I thought this might be a good place to mention: it's the Junior Weasel's 8th birthday today!!! :)

I have to make a quick run to Toys R Us this morning for a couple of shiny new video games. And then, ladies and gents, I need to gather my courage for the ultimate test of strength as a parent. Much like Dante's journey through Hell, I will be pushed to the limits of my sanity, and only my inner strength will allow me to survive this horrible ordeal.

Yes. We're going to Chuck E. Cheese. If you never hear from me again, please send my well wishes to Stewart.

Egads, Weasel. Be careful out there. That place puts the "chuck" in "upchuck." (But happy birthday to Jr. Weasel!)

Spec, mairinpgh is actually Crissy. She's been spying on you all this time.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Happy Birthday to Junior Weasel...and best wishes to Daddy Weasel for getting through Chuck E. Cheese with your dignity and well-being intact!

Having just survived my own son's 8th birthday extravaganza yesterday, I will remind you that no matter how bad it seems...it's only a couple of hours! You can survive this!
(I confess I also had some help in the form of a chilled chardonnay...don't recall alcohol being available at Chuckie's place!)

Have fun!

Oh I loved Chuck E. Cheese! I still have some of the stuff I got with tickets, most are lost to time.

That's correct. I'm going to tough it out soberly, if you can imagine the horror.

By the way, I already handled being in Toys R Us on a Sunday morning, less than an hour ago. If I can make it through that as well as the pizza-flinging rat in one day, I deserve some kind of medal, or immediate acceptance into the Navy Seals. I figure hunting terrorists would be easy after this experience.

It's not a rat, it's a mouse.

Have you ever looked closely at it? Scraggly gray hair, decrepit tail, lolling eyes. Any restaurant that has one of those in it should be closed by the department of health.

And how dare they call that cardboard-like substance "pizza"?

Anyway, my boy has the misfortune of having his b-day just after school gets out, so although we invited maybe 7-8 kids, it's doubtful they'll all show up (lots of them at camp, on family vacations, etc.). Knowing my son as I do, he's probably fine with that, since he'll be too busy on the video games to socialize much anyway.

When I was a kid it looked even more like a rat, they gave it a "face lift" sometime back when I still went there. They insisted it was a mouse...

Yeah my parents hated it... it was years later before I found out the pizza tasted bad (lol). We were made to check in every 15 min or so, so we'd take another bite and run off... with more tokens. You can't run out of tokens.

I've had more fun going to Chuck E. Cheese as an adult than I did as a kid, especially with all my nieces and nephews and the offspring of my various cousins, as I'm small enough that I can still crawl through all the habitrail-type tunnels that they have in their little indoor playground and scare the crap out of them and terrorize them all. I actually think the pizza tastes better (but is still pretty awful) compared to when I was a kid.
