Sounds like you're already filling in the blanks, DM! Guess i should stop short of any self-incrimination
It was a weekend of incredible highs and lows, some of which i can't even go into here.
Overall, the experience was quite life-affirming, even if i can't claim to have enjoyed every minute of it. It was artistically fulfilling because i got to build a drum and even make a short movie, not to mention the trip was an important bonding experience with my buds, one of whom i've had more of a competitive relationship with in the past.
Regarding the Police, I really shouldn't have let others' lack of enthusiasm get me down in the first place. It's pretty unrealistic to expect everybody else to have been listening to this stuff for 24 years just because *I* have. At a venue like that, with a 100 other bands and a unique cultural experience drawing folks in, it's only natural to expect that a band that's been out of action this long to come off as more of a curiousity than anything.
It *did* make me think that they could just as easily have been playing some of their more obscure stuff, tho. If it's not a Big Hit Song, chances are the general audience won't have heard it anyway.
Chad, i'm really looking forward to that disc.
Were you guys trying to find me after the show? I mean, i heard people yelling "Chris!" three or four times a day, but as i was collecting myself after the Police show, i could have sworn i heard a "jedsoon!" following my name. I stopped and looked around, figuring i would at least recognize Jean. But in the dark, those throngs of people offered no familiar faces.
As for another show... whew. That's a huge expense for someone on my budget. Although i can now say i've finally seen the Police, the crowd experience is so much a part of it that i can't really say i've done that bit. I wanna be surrounded by other folks singing and dancing as hard as me!! When is that Atlanta show? I was kinda planning a trip there the last weekend of September, any chance the stars could be in alignment?
