what's the source, who recorded this, etc. please tell me this isn't yet another mp3 rip of a show that some poor bastard took the time to upload in lossless format to dime?

1st source: card mics> batt box filter> sharp mini disc>sound card>Adobe Audition 1.5 (edits and tracked) Have no Idea what the other stuff you are asking. Either you like the way it sounds or you don't . It's rated 2+ on the bootleg page on the Police site. My point was that the band is starting to gel.

lossless = no loss to fidelity.
mp3 = source files are made smaller. high frequencies lost, but at higher bitrate conversions you might not hear the difference.

someone took the time to tape and upload this, and people sharing them round without credit to the original taper represents an act of disgraceful villainy. if you can't access a torrent site to get the lossless source files and instead have to get someone to rip it to mp3 for you, do it privately and don't poison the well of circulating live recordings with lossy recordings.

no, a bootlegger doesn't. but a fan who has risked their butt getting past security to record a show and then freely distribute it does. it's the police's music, but we wouldn't be getting to hear the show unless someone recorded it and shared that recording. i think that deserves props. but i'll shut the hell up now. what a grumpy bastard i can be!
