Stewart - where's Bring on the night ?

Postby samburusunset on 21 Jun 2007 19:13

Yeah, I'll comment. I think Stewart and Andy ought to bind and gag Sting and bring on his tech to play and they can just do an instrumental.
That would be tres fabulous!!!
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

Hello All!
In my giddy, gushing, girlish appeal to Andy during his booksigning in Vegas I pleaded with him to please add Bring On the Night.
STEWART, if you are reading this, I am the blond who giggled and chattered with excitement non-stop while meeting Andy and DANCED NONSTOP to your AMAZING show in VEGAS! YOU ROCKED, HONEY!
I will see you all again very soon in Tampa, BRING ON THE NIGHT!
Cheers!

Should we start a lobbying thread? Cause I'm going to cry if I don't get to hear 'Does Everyone Stare' this year sometime.

You know, I'm half serious...
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

I'll tell you where it is, it's in G Minor, at half tempo, with vocal fills like 'bring bring bring bring it on on on on'.

Being a guitar player (and knowing how to play BOtN), I can easily see that Andy's hand may have a hard time playing those arpeggios these days--at least at the beginning of the tour--so they decided to drop it.

It's just speculation of course, but it's certainly possible. Especially if the Message in a Bottle riff was giving him trouble (as it appears to have done in a few shows).

It's no slam on Andy if this is the case, of course. (He's been my guitar GOD since 1979, and got me to start playing guitar back then.) As great as he is, sometimes there just some things you can't do as you get older (and lordy do I know THAT! ;) )

Again, just speculation on my part.

Krokodyle you sais that Andy is your guitar god.

Since you know him close, don't you think he is a little bit cold or shy with his fans???

I *WISH* I knew him close! ;) But I think I know what you mean.

Are you talking about during these recent Police performances? Or in general?

As far as live performances, Andy has never been very 'participatory' with the audience (at least once The Police shows got larger than clubs & halls). His playing style really keeps him busy, and Sting is given (or assumed) the role of being the 'showman', and handles the audience interaction.

If you can track down some of the live videos (many are bootlegs) of The Police from back then, you can see that Stewart and Andy have always had little interaction with the audience, and though all three are giving their all, Sting is the real 'talker'.

Yes, all three put out a great effort, but their shows have really always been about the music, and not any kind of 'stageshow'.

He's performed his own material live for years since the original breakup of The Police, and sadly I've never been able to see him live. Perhaps he's more personable/interactive when he does that. But I think it's just the way Andy is when he's playing. Not 'cold' or 'shy', but concentrating and reserved.

(I don't know if I'm making any sense, it's a bit late and I'm tired)

In any case, this is just my opinion, of course. I don't know the man personally...WISH I DID! :)

lopsided democracy. well put

I know we are allllllllll so excited to see them play again together. but I have to say it- I plan on seeing them as many times as I can.
Like Stewart, I am going to enjoy it for all I can.

But, I also enjoy watching where Stewart is taking his career- how he transforms and reinvents himself constantly and surprises me.
So, I may be banished and the only stick in the mud.

But I am grateful for getting to experience them live again- think it is wonderful for them all to exorcise their ghosts.
And won't be terribly disappointed if Stewart opts to end it at the end of the tour and not submit to Sting's lopsided view of democracy in the studio.....
I'll understand- and look forward to whatever he choses to do next.

OH, and I am sure he hasn't forgotten his fans, or bring on the night.

Now, how about a thread about Does Everyone Stare? I'm in!

I understand what you mean Krokodyle, but as a matter of fact, I am not talking when the guys are playing live.

Is just because I saw a vid before they get in wiskey a go go, this past February, and there shows Andy very cold with the fans when he is out from the limo and get into the bar, Sting made an arm hello to the fans, and Stewart was signining autographs to many fans before his entrance...

I am just talking about this recent vid, anyway I feel Andy as a great guitar man, but very far from his fans...

:(

Maybe he is a shy man, because I hear from Stewart from Viña del Mar and Gio from here, that he is a very hilarious person.

And to mtobinjones:

How about you create a thread about Does Everyone Stare. Sure I will be in, since I am really inlove with this avantgarde musical movie about my favorite band!
