Let your Team Copeland Flag fly!!! (Flag-Bearers wanted.)

Postby Donna on 10 Jun 2007 19:17

Hey all

I would be proud and able to take the flag to both Boston shows and Vegas!

Vegas, I know, is coming up quickly, but if it could get to me before next Thursday, I will make sure it is well cared for.

I believe all my other shows have been accounted for by other sc.netters.
Pls let me know if I can help!

Looking forward to meeting fellow fans!

Hey there, kids. Checking in quickly from the Left Coast.

Glad to hear The Flag has arrived safely in TN. Thanks, Dive.

Everyone else, I'll deal with the various volunteerings when I return home at the end of the week.

Flag-Bearers: Now that The Flag is about to start popping up around the country, I ask all Flag-Bearers to please review the instructions that I sent via email.

And please let me reiterate that while the first law of The Flag is flag survival, the first law of The Flag-Bearer is courtesy. The Flag may be small, but it is big enough to be a pain in the ass to someone else if handled inappropriately. Please remember to minimize the flag-waving and restrict it to appropriate moments ONLY. Do not hold the flag up for the entire show (obviously); please stick with the occasional wave between songs and/or during the curtain call, and always be cognizant of the needs/views of the people around you.

I have confidence in every one of you not to act like a bonehead and to act in a courteous and kind manner to your fellow audience members. The odds of Stewart actually seeing The Flag are slim at best; the fact that The Flag is present at all is support enough.

Thank you again, you lovely representatives of Copelandia, and have a great show!
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I haven't had time to deal with recent emails and posts, so be aware that the Flag Schedule does not reflect any of that info yet.

But here's a bump and a reminder of the Flag Schedule in its current incarnation:

Flag Schedule with recent tweaks below. Thanks as always, everyone!

BATITUDE and KIMMY: because of mail service limitations, you can't both get The Flag. It's going to have to be one or the other. However, before I make you guys duke it out, I'm going to wait until we have more idea of what the fall tour schedule is. Until then, I'm putting you both down as pending.

RAPA: I'm afraid Barcelona comes up too close to Paris, so that one won't work. Sorry. But thank you for volunteering!

OLIVIER and HOWARDHUGES: You're still pending because I haven't heard from you. Email when you can please.

NYC Metro folks: At some point, I'll email you ladies to narrow down which of us will take the flag on what days.

Small tweak to the Flag Schedule, listed as 7a and 7b:

*****

THE FLAG'S FIRST NORTH AMERICAN LEG: BONNAROO TO GIANTS STADIUM

JOURNEY 1: NJ to Bonnaroo
By the end of the week, DirtyMartini mails the flag to Divemistress.

STOP 1: JUNE 16 - Bonnaroo (Divemistress)

JOURNEY 2: Bonnaroo to Dodgers
On Monday, June 18, Divemistress mails the flag to Bella (who will be in VA). Flag must arrive in VA by Thursday, June 21 AT THE LATEST so that Bella can take it on a plane to CA the next day.

STOP 2: JUNE 23 - Dodgers (bella)

JOURNEY 3: Dodgers to Houston
On Monday, June 25, Bella mails the flag to Spec A!. Flag must arrive at Spec A's office by Thursday, June 28.

STOP 3: JUNE 29 - Houston (Spec A!)

JOURNEY 4: Houston to New Orleans
After June 29 concert in Houston, Spec A! hands flag off to GinaSuperCat, who then takes it by bus to New Orleans.

STOP 4: JUNE 30 - New Orleans (GinaSuperCat)

JOURNEY 5: New Orleans to Cleveland
It is unlikely that there will be an intermediate stop between these two dates cuz of holidays and timing problems. So when GSC arrives home, she mails it to DirtyMartini at home in NJ, who will then make any necessary repairs. DirtyMartini carries flag by bus to Cleveland. Alternatively, if Gina decides to attend Cleveland show (and flag doesn't need touching-up), she can always carry it to Cleveland herself.

STOP 5: JULY 16 - Cleveland (DirtyMartini)

JOURNEY 6: Cleveland to Toronto
After July 16 concert in Cleveland, DirtyMartini hands flag off to nancyrose, who then takes it with her by plane to Toronto.

STOP 6: JULY 22 - Toronto (nancyrose)

JOURNEY 7: Toronto to Boston
On Monday, July 23, nancyrose mails flag to Skip. Flag must arrive by Friday, July 27.

STOP 7a: JULY 28 - Boston (Skip)

JOURNEY 7a: Either after Saturday night show or before Sunday night show, Skip hands off flag to Donna for Sunday show

STOP 7b: JULY 29 - Boston (Donna)

JOURNEY 7b: Donna hands flag back to Skip after Sunday show

JOURNEY 8: Boston to NYC
On Monday, July 30, Skip mails the flag VIA USPS OVERNIGHT DELIVERY to sockii (in Philadelphia). Flag must arrive on Tuesday, July 31.

STOP 8: AUGUST 1 & 3 - NYC/MSG (sockii, et al)

JOURNEY 9: NYC to NJ/Giants
Before or after August 3 concert at MSG, sockii hands off flag to DirtyMartini. DirtyMartini goes home.

STOP 9: AUGUST 5 - Giants (DirtyMartini)

I woulld really love to fly the flag at the second Toronto gig.... but I know the logistics are a bit of a nightmare!!!

However if Batitude is going to be home to receive it I'll fedex or dhl it or whatever to them...... It's not a cost thing it's a I really want to do it and have the flag at as many places as poss......

If it's too tight then so be it.....

No problems

Kim

I've volunteered for Cardiff, but it looks like I'm going to be cutting it fine getting there in time for any pre-show meeting up. So Kimmy if you're still able to do that date, go for it!

Kimmy, don't stress. I'm going to wait til they finalize the fall schedule before making a call on Boston v. Toronto. The flag will have been to both, so no stress there. I'll decided depending on what other dates get scheduled around the same time.

But if you'd like to take over smudge's spot at Cardiff, just let me know.

Thanks!

It actually looks pretty good! DM scared me so much with talk of all the cracks and now that I see it in person, it's really quite nice. It sure did have an odor to it, though. Kinda that musky patchouli type of smell? Just kidding.

Three names so far, Dive, Gina supercat and Cpriddims across the top of the back. Plenty room for more names. I really think we should have signed it on the front. I mean, what if Stew wants to frame it? He'll have to use one of those glass on glass frames to see the back.
