Los Angeles - are you ready for The Police?!?!?!?!?!

So, who all is going to any and/or all of the LA area gigs? I'm headed to the Honda Center (formerly The Pond in Anaheim) this Thursday, and of course Dodger Stadium this coming Saturday! I think some definite tail-gaiting will be happening this Saturday! I plan on going early as we all know our freeways blow here in So Cal. I'm jazzed about Honda Center...it's such a beautiful venue inside and out, but Dodger Stadium is what's really getting my blood pumping. Outside show...in June...in Southern California....and it's the Police (!) for gosh sakes.....forget about it. A dream come true!

I will see you at Dodger Stadium, Stupid. What a great screen name. Probably the first and last time it's PC to call someone "Stupid".

I am a Los Angeleno, but I already blew my Police wad on seeing the show in Seattle on 6/6 with my girlfriend while vacationing up there. But I'll say this: if I could afford it, I'd see the show again, in all three LA-area venues if it were up to me!

Enjoy!

What's really fun is that I'm taking a fairly young friend who was probably still sucking his thumb when they took their "sabbatical" 23 years ago - and he's sooooo excited. It's refreshing in this age of superficial icons and plastic boy-bands that a group like The Police can generate such excitement! It's a testament to their legacy.

Hey Bella!! i will definitely look for you at Dodger Stadium...to sign the flag and just to meet another person who thinks Stewart Copeland is GOD. You're from Virginia? I was raised in Charlottesville and saw The Police down in Virginia Beach all those years ago....

have a great trip out here and hope we can meet up (my seats are kind of far away but i'm going to do everything I can to make it to you) :D

Yes, chimu! I am flying from Virginia to see them. I am in the Hampton Roads area! I saw them at William & Mary Hall. My mom wouldn't let me go to the VA Beach show because (according to her) I was too young at that time. Bleh!

Get to the stadium early and leave late and you will hopefully be able to find me either before or after the show. I will put on my Copelandia radar. =)

Ok, just got back from Staples in L.A. and, once again, it was awesome... probably their first four or five songs were plain flawless (can't remember the exact setlist, but they did stick with Message, Synch II and Walking On The Moon for the first three, and despite Walking On The Moon being a "slower" song, I find it really fits beautifully in that 3rd slot)... Oh, they did this new thing where at the very beginning of the show, after the Bob Marley "Get Up Stand Up" thing, the house lights go dark and Stewart's on his percussion riser warming up the gong while the stage is still dark, and now Andy gets up on stage a bit earlier so that when Stewart finally nails that gong, Andy's already standing on stage looking down at his guitar: no funny off-notes in the ever-important intro to Message In A Bottle tonight!! Apparently, previously it would just be Stewart on stage with the gong at the beginning and as soon as he hits the gong, Andy and Sting both walk out on stage with the beginning of Message, so maybe the walking and looking out at the crowd and playing at the same time was probably messing Andy up a bit... again, not tonight. Sting's voice did crack slightly in one of the songs about halfway through the set (I can't remember, might have been "Wrapped..."), but overall he sang great... Walking On The Moon was stellar... Stewart forgot his calypso beat in the first chorus of Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic and it sounded awesome... overall, great set (got a chance to tell Stewart personally as in...)

Laz: Hey Stewart, I don't have anything for you to sign, but I just wanted to say that you were awesome tonight as always!!

STEWART: Oh, thanks.

*** mobbed by a bunch of other autograph hounds as he's herded to his van to take him home ***

Next stop (for the Police as well as for myself): Anaheim tomorrow night!!

Laz
