Stew please tell me this isn't true

I know u can't believe everything u read. I don't know u personnaly but i know that u must have integrity. This is shocking if this is true:

February 18, 2007 -- IT was Sting's brilliant idea to bring The Police back together for their 30th anniversary, sources say, despite interviews he and band members Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers gave suggesting it was a mutual idea.

One music-industry heavyweight tells Page Six: "Sting worked on Stewart and Andy for six months trying to get them to agree to tour. They didn't really want to at first. It's not like they need the money. They're set for life off of the royalties alone.

"But for some reason, Sting was insistent, telling them how much money they all could make," the source said.

To sweeten the deal, Sting "assured his former bandmates they could not only pick the song list for the tour, but that the three would share equally in profits - whereas in the past, Sting always got a higher percentage because he was the frontman.

"They finally agreed," our source said, and the group decided to kick off their reunion tour with an opening performance at the Grammys of "Roxanne."

But Copeland and Summers apparently didn't realize what they had signed on for. "Andy and Stew thought they would just do the old rock version of 'Roxanne,' " our insider said, "but when they showed up for sound check, Sting had created this weird, jazz-blues version of the song, and they kind of freaked out."

Sting insisted that his version was better and sang the unexpected rendition of the 1978 hit at the Grammys - to almost everyone's dismay.

"It was hideous," said one music executive. "Lets hope the whole rest of the song sets for the tour aren't like that."

Thoughts?

Its rubbish, the version of Roxanne is the version they have more or less done since it was first played live. Also as this was the 30th year since Roxanne was released plans were in the pipe line to do something anyway, just not a full blown tour.
I think the only true part of the piece is that the split is equal as to payement from the tour.

1. Provide a source/link when you quote an article. There's a bit of a difference between something coming from The New York Times or The Daily Mirror.

2. Not knowing the source except that it's "page six", which generally means the gossip section, I'd toss it in the trash. As usual it seems like they've taken one or two comments that may have truthfulness to them (re: splitting the profits) and stretched everything into fiction from that point forward to serve their interests (namely, shooting the band down however possible).

3. Generally we try to avoid using excessive netspeak on this board. (ie, "u" instead of "you".) Please remember we are an international group here and using proper language helps make communication with everyone easier, especially for many who may not be native English speakers.

I didn't hear a "jazz" version on the Grammy's so I will ignore everything he said.

Please give your source and decline your identity. Even if it's true (what would explain a lot of things, like : Sting insisted to get them = that's why Andy gets more place to put guitar and Stew more to put drums).
In any case, noone can denir the $$$ is one of the bigest reason, for each of them... especially regarding their new behaviour, that I find more american than european (i said it before) and the taxes problems Sting had last year.
