I really honestly don't understand what people think - 24 years after Syncronicity ...
I am sure we all had a a lot more energy (raw unpolished) back then.
It is not a negativ think, if life makes us a little bit more relaxed or even slower. But how ever it will be - it will be different!
I can respect someone saying - well I never heard them before other then on the records, and I just don't like what they do.
But comparing '83 with 2007 is just so plain wrong that I can't have any sympathy.

Well, it depends how you define the word energy. It's not (as I read this review) about raw, upolished, fast punk/rock, as they did in their early days.
It's more a sense of an empty feeling (lack of energy) in this new re-arangement of the old beloved songs.
I've never expected The Police, on this reunion tour, would sound exactly like they did in the 70-80's, but the songs that hasen't been re-arranged just seems to work much better (In my opinion, listening to a couple of bootlegs)

Well, first, this is a random person's blog... not a "review" per se, but more a story of one guy's experience. And that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and in the day of the Internet, everyone feels entitled to also *publish* their opinion. :)

The real deal is, as has been mentioned, time goes by and things change. And thank the gods for that! The world would be pretty boring if everything remained static over the course of time.

From my personal perspective, no more or less qualified than the guy who wrote this blog entry, I loved the subtle changes that the Police have done in the arrangements of the songs. I was enthralled to see where they'd take these tunes, and they didn't let me down for one millisecond of the show.

One caveat: I saw them in an arena, not in a stadium. I am not a fan of stadium shows... it's all the more difficult to impart any intimacy to your audience. So, I do understand that some people who see shows in Oakland (or coming up at Dodger Stadium here in my hometown) might have less of a thrilling experience than I did. 17,000 people is a great crowd; 55,000 people is a small city. :)

Defintiely can make a difference, that's for sure. That's why I'm glad I'm going to a lot of different venues, and with different kinds of tickets (from floor to side stage to nosebleeds) just to get the various experiences. I certainly expect Giants Stadium to be a lot different from MSG...

you have to admit the guy is right in many points. Going to the Police to see the police, is not interesting. It's morbid rather.

I hope Stewart gives his best. He has enrgy.

Sting must stop relaxation for a while : Sting has to get stressed a bit.

Andy is very good for his role in the police (doing nice sounds once a while in each song) especially for his age (he is as old as my grand father).

Police has to go to next gear... show what you have under your motor hood.

PS - The Porsche is still a very good car... even after more than 50 years.

This guy seems more to regret his youth than any thing else and projects this on The Police being older guys.... but in fact they are way better musicians than they used to be. When I see this kind of critics, I feel like saying. Go on Stage, Play and then we Talk!

When I worked for Miles for 3 years, you don't even know the comments we had. We revived at some point the Police tee after 15 years. People were histerically virulents and negatives. I heard stuff like The Police is not an American Band and the 20 years old do not know The Police. They didn't even want to distribute the tees fearing they could not sell a piece.
Can you beleive it!!!!

By the way Miles is the Best. You're lucky Stewart to have such a brother!!!
