I like what Andy is playing his long solos right now, but what about Stewart playing a drum solo with THE POLICE

I love "Serenguetti long walk" Stewart drum solo at "The Rhytmatist", It sounds out of earth!!!

Do you expect an Stewart drum solo with THE POLICE?

I'm for much more instrument and less singing. Andy is really good at it and stewart solo is interesting too. but the 3 of them, without singing, is the best by now for my ears. I picked up 1st proposition

thanks for being your friend, bud, Ok for sting singing, but less. I'm not interested in the text anymore. I want to here a trio not a singer with accompaniment… but we are getting there I guess. I really would like to hear something from the last show.

He didn't do one in Seattle, and judging by the highlighted quote in this Modern Drummer article:

I wouldn't expect him to start doing one now.

I should add that I'd LOVE to see him do one, just don't think it's all that likely....then again, I didn't think it at all likely that I'd ever get to see The Police in concert either!

I think it would be silly for Stewart to do a "Neil Peart" Style drum solo, and I don't think he would want to do one anyway.

His rhythmic talents are best used in support of a song. If he was doing a personal composition that was primarily percussion oriented, I could see that as being sort of a solo....but that would be out of place for most Police fans.

Andy's soloing is pushing it a bit much on this tour, but that is probably because Sting wants to use this tour to "highlight" Andy and Stewart to make up for all his attention grabbing 25 years ago. Either that or he is just lazy and let's Andy go forever so he can rest his voice.

I think Neils Peart sounds predicible... Stewart is better for me with or without a solo drum is the king of drums 8)

Drum Solo's belong to prog rock....Stewart probably did his last drum solo with Curved Air.

And why would such a great drummer need to show off anyway ?

Perhaps he could do it one short at the begining of the concert, for starting the concert as a warm exercise for him to enter the first song... solos of Stewart? well isn't a completely solo but remarkably on drums at "No time thsi time" or "One World-Not three"

Stewart drum solo hmmm IMO not necessary. this is groove music baby and I dont think i know of a song by Neil Peart that is straight groove from start to finish hmmm??? Anyway one of the hardest things for a drummer is to keep straight time, without the temptation to do all kinds of fills solos etc. STEWART is doing a solo in every song actually by just playing the BEAT in TIME and with a SOLID GROOVE.

I've said it before and here it is again:
After all these years I have never known Stewart to be the drum solo type of drummer. The Police songs lend themselves to an embellished drumming style that can be heard in songs like "Shadows In The Rain" and "Walking On The Moon" and "Bring On The Night" that have some downright hypnotic, mesmerizing chops by the man. Plainly put, he doesn't need to do a drum solo. Stewart is by his own merits, a virtuoso amongst most drummers.
