Bonnaroo Countdown!

Postby GinaSuperCat on 07 Jun 2007 20:11

SEVEN DAYS TO BONNAROOOOOOO!!! We're getting pretty excited here, tooooooo <grin>

Having just printed out the schedule, I'm looking at what we're going to have to choose between...especially simultanous performances...some of you have been before, is it feasible to move about and catch the last 30 min of something (like Manu Chao, who runs 30 min. after the Roots, who I must see) or is that really not logistically possible to move about like that during sets? I don't really mind not being upfront for Tool (main stage after Roots) and will *definitely* want to see that who show but will be fine with just whatever viewing area is availble...

Are we going to try to form a coalition to get up close for the Police? Ziggy Marley and the Ben Harper play right before, so staying put at the main stage will be well-worth it, but the Flaming Lips play right after so <mental overload> that night will really rock hard!

The only stage it's pretty hard to maneuver away from is What Stage. The smaller stages (Which, This, That, and The Other, I believe) are all in one large area and it's a piece of cake to move from one to another. You wind up in the back if you get there after a set starts, is the only thing...Whoop! Forgot to mention binoculars on the packing list. Will go amend.

Aw, hell. I don't mind Ben Harper, but hanging out before The Police will mean I have to miss Franz Ferdinand......and, gaaaah! Flaming Lips vs. Nels Cline!! Dammit.

We definitely should camp out down front as early as possible, although it's going to be really, really crowded.

(I'm kinda glad Wilco and White Stripes will be Sunday night...some folks will have left by then.)

Ya Franz Ferdinand was initially looking to be playing on Thurs., which would've been great...also Ween is at the same time, but I don't know a whole lot about them except some funny songs I've heard, but dunno...that's strange they are piled up like that but heh, I don't want that sceduling job so I'll just stay quiet and enjoy myself as best as I can <grin>

Hey all...Been spending the afternoon raking the clippings up in the yard and setting up the tent and screen while hubby was waterproofing and seam-sealing them so we're getting ready for Roo <grin>

Hubby and I are going to drive most of the way on Wed. night, then head into Manchester in the morning to the check in area and try to get set-up as soon as we can before it gets too hot, so we'll be there before noon.

SIX DAYS TILL BONNAROOO!!!

Just saw this, wifi at Roo: "This year, D-Link will be providing 20-plus computers with high-speed Internet access from within the MediaLounge, not to mention Wi-Fi internet at various locations within Centeroo to make it easier than ever for attendees to connect to cyberspace. Bonnaroo continues to be the most tech-savvy festival in the land! So connect with family and friends through the Internet... courtesy of D-Link."

Gina, thanks so much for those links. I thought about looking up some bands on myspace just to familiarize myself, since im so far out of the current music scene. Maybe Bonnaroo is the event i need to finally get my head out of my @$$!

That all-star jam sounds mind-blowing, and is looking to be the *other* major highlight of the show for me! Just hate that i missed Stewart's... was this at last year's show? Anyone here catch it and care to comment?

I am fine with the Police slowing things down for this show. I'd love to see and hear some technical wizardry and musical interplay. It will really fit the spirit of things!

I'll be amazed if the Wifi works, tell you the truth. I'm sure AC Entertainment has the best of intentions, but there will be A LOT of people trying to hook up to that.

I didn't get to see the jam last year, dammit.

Guess I need to go get some supplies soon. Probably just a case of beer, a gallon of tequila, and a trash bag.

I travel pretty light.
