Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 07 Jun 2007 14:18

Aw, you know they missed a few entrances and endings Back in the Day. Only diff is that people weren't taking notes! ;)

Awesome review, 3/4. Welcome back! You were missed.

what a boring review.
yes but really funny ...

"However, there was one moment in Wednesday's show when it felt like there was some tension between band members. During a particularly lively and loud guitar solo on "So Lonely," one of the songs on two sets of encores, Sting said sarcastically, "Welcome to the Andy Summers show," and Summers rolled his eyes."
Yeah, the reviewers are always looking for something to show that the band doesn't get along. They don't get the humor or the self-deprecation.

Someone please post the fashion update. What shorts was Stewart wearing? What color headband? This stuff is really important!

I'm not being sarcastic, by the way, I really wanna know.

I like the sound of tension between Andy and Sting. Seems like old times! Hooray.

Seriously. Cripes, folks, I'm not the biggest Police show collector out there but I've surely heard more than my fair share of "original"-era Police shows, certainly in the dozens if not hundreds. And they were never perfect beasts. Half the time Sting had laringytis and sounded like crap; Andy never seemed to come in right on Roxanne; etc. To me music ain't supposed to be perfect, it's supposed to be lively and vibrant and it's really only us nitpickers who notice the difference.

Indeed! Glad to have you back among us!

Seattle Show

Postby brendenp on 07 Jun 2007 16:34

I was also at the FC show on the 27th and again last night.

Maybe Im a blind fan, but I missed anything 'wrong' or out of time. they seemed to play flawlessly. For me the biggest differences between the FC show and the 1st Seattle show were; 1 -Faster tempo. The seattle show was much more upbeat and fluid. 2- Stings voice, to echo a previous post, he really belted it out, held nothing back. 3 - Andy seemed to be having more fun. At the FC show, he was really working hard, at last nights show he looked much more relaxed, like he was having a good time.

But I will state here what I have told everyone about the show. In my opinion, and not just because Im posting on Stewarts boards, Stewart was the highlight both nights. The only two words I can really use to describe it are "wow", and "Impressive". Stewart really put the exclamation point on the show both nights.

Im going to have to figure out how to make it to more shows....

Jenny -

here's a link to all the Seattle press pics I've found so far--got a couple shots of Stew. When's the red/black outfit coming back? I rather liked that one, very Superhero-ish if you ask me (and certainly therefore fitting for Stewart):

Thanks! What is it my obsession with the shorts or something?

Thanks for the photos Sockii. Oh my freakin' god. They all look so awesome. Stewart, paging Dr. house. (He really looks like Hugh Laurie). Andy, this guy is like Dick Clark. He just does not age. Apart from slight chin wobble, which you can not see head on, Andy looks like he did in the 80s. And Sting. Holy crap. This guy must have a decrepit painting of himself locked in a closet somewhere because there is no way he should look that good still. Sorry if I'm the resident "Petulant Pansy" Apologist but give me lute boy in tight black pants and a muscle shirt any day. i heart them. I heart them all so much.

i just know I'm going to turn into one of those hysterical screaming teenage girls from the Beatles concert footage.

From the article that jstmary linked, I found this to be interesting:
It took a few tunes for the band to hit its stride, but the dark, threatening, "Don't Stand So Close To Me" did the trick, about five songs in.

The band was at its spooky best on "Murder By Numbers" and turned in strong renditions of "De Do Do Do De Da Da Da" and "Invisible Sun" and "Walking in Your Footsteps."
Footsteps is killer -- but it is REALLY interesting to hear the reviewer call out Stand, Murder, DDDD, and Sun as highlights. *Especially* Stand and Murder.

BTW, welcome, jstmary and brendenp!

ETA: Checked TPT for comments on last night's show -- only made it to page 2. But I KNOW you guys will be interested in this. Someone over there said:

"They played Murder By Numbers, Andy donned the Telecaster for this one. Then on the next song he changed back, with Stewert saying "Why don't you play the telecaster Andy?" I guess the red Strat was Andy's favorite for the night, it certainly sounded fantastic."

(Thank you, Stewart.)

seattle show

Postby jstmary on 07 Jun 2007 19:24

Thanks for the welcome.
I keep going back and forth to TPT msg boards and this one.
TPT seattle review is now up to 9 pages. Some personal attacks, and even political comments? on a review thread? I'm confused by the animosity on the boards.
a review is to write or give a critical report on something.
It shouldn't result in a personal attack. Just strange to me.

I'm so thrilled they are back! I had a great time at Seattle show last night and I can't wait to see if they come back around after Europe tour. Also, I'm looking forward to the MTV acoustic set in July.

...there wasn't any internet, forums/messageboards, YouTube clips the next day, or downloadable mp3 bootlegs of shows either...

...just something to chew on...

Yeah. I don't think there are actually any active moderators at TPT like we have here. They have stated message board guidelines, but nobody ever enforces even blatant violations of them (no personal attacks, no political diatribes, etc). It's too bad, really, b/c concert ticket giveaways, promotions and announcements are usually made on the message boards.

I'm hoping for the green Puma shirt from last year on Stewart at Bonnaroo. Although that black and red ensemble is awesome.
