Is Sting the Paul McCartney of his generation?

Mmmm

Postby georgygirl on 20 Jan 2006 17:26

Mrs. G, stay cool.

I am wrong in what?

In my Stewart Copeland's preferences in music?
I don't think I am wrong, because I love to hear his music that is a fact that make me real happy.

I am wrong to consider Sting as a media darling like Paul Mc, well, is just my focus. Your focus is different, but I don't think is wrong, is just your focus.

The thing that make noise inside me, is this:
And the same can't be said for Sting and Andy? Oh no that's completly different.

Here I didn't catch you.

How dare Sting be popular in The Police, AND popular as a solo artist! What a horrible person!

Why you think so?

I see you are a true Sting's fan, why you think he is an horrible person just because he is popular?

Oh I ment to say Stew and Andy....I had Sting on the mind.

Why you think so?

I was being sarcastic.

why you think he is an horrible person just because he is popular?

That's my whole point! JL (not really you on this part) is acting like Sting, and his music suck, because it IS popular....that only music no one's heard of (sorry Stew) is good.

Mrs. G, if Sting is always in your mind and you show me here you are a Sting's groupie, what are you doing here bothering SC fans?

Go away on Sting's page.

Why you are always here just throwing your unhapiness and no satisfaction against Stewart?

Since the beginnings, you always wrote dirt oil messages to Stewart and is very annoying at least for me.

The fact in my life is that I don't like Sting music, and I don't care if his music sucks or not. I don't have interest to discuss this topic at least with you.

And I don't even believe you are 18 years old because 18 years are few to get all the sadness you show here through your messages.

18 years old guys and gals are happy people when they listen music, as Foxy, Al or Spyroseductress. They like SC music, and that is why they come here, to show his regards to a great artist.

Be constructive no destructive with anyone.
Stop throwing again and again and again your unhapiness here.

Also a Lier...

You said No-one hear SC music, and is an absolute lie.

Me, since more than half of my life I have listened SC music, and I am a person not no-one as you said.

I feel very happy just to hear his music. It motivates me to much to do many things.

Mrs. G go away with Sting, pay for being a Sting's groupie, stay there.

I don't understand why you are always fighting here with all of us trying to all love Sting music.

But here is the wrong place to your intentions.

Here is SC site, no Sting site. I am here because I want to show my regards to my favorite music artist.

I am really tired about your nasty ans stupid messages.

Strawman. Apples/oranges. STEWART and Andy haven't had the solo commercial success of Sting as a result of their tenure with the Police and their status as media darlings.

You just proved my point! You think they only god music is music, no one's heard of! Your just want to be different, to listen to something no one else knows of, no matter if something else is good aswell.
(Desert Rose is a great song, it's what got me started on Sting...which led me to The Police, and on to Stewart)

You haven't made a point yet. I don't know about god music. But you really show your ignorance when you deduce that I think the only GOOD music is what the masses hear.-- Desert Rose is what turned you on to Sting and the Police. How old are you, 15?

Quote:
By all accounts I've read/heard, Sting is the reason the Police are no more.

Another point proven (thank you). You don't like him, because you think if it wasan't for him The Police would still be together.

Hello, captain obvious. This was never argued by me. Why don't you argue that the sky is blue, so you can pat yourself on the back when I agree? I'm sure these strawman arguements serve you well on the Junior Varsity debate team, but not here.

I know what you mean. Apart of me was like "yes I finally get to see these songs performed!" then the other part was like....."fuck he jazzed them up!"

Agreed. I attended one Sting show in the mid 90's. I left in disgust midway through a 15 minute, jazzy version of 'when the world is running down'.

I'm right, JL and Georgygirl are wrong, "So there you go."

If you say so. I'm sure that logic will clean up on the JV high school debate team circuit.

Mrs. G, if Sting is always in your mind and you show me here you are a Sting's groupie, what are you doing here bothering SC fans?

Who made up the rule that I can't be both Stewart AND Sting's fan?

Why you are always here just throwing your unhapiness and no satisfaction against Stewart?

I'm not sure I completly understood that statement. But it sounded like you were trying to say I"m not satisified with Stewart, and I'm trying to throw it at you.

Since the beginnings, you always wrote dirt oil messages to Stewart and is very annoying at least for me.

WTF are you on about?

The fact in my life is that I don't like Sting music, and I don't care if his music sucks or not. I don't have interest to discuss this topic at least with you.

Then don't bring up the topic.

And I don't even believe you are 18 years old because 18 years are few to get all the sadness you show here through your messages.

I'm annoyed when people diss Sting, but I'm not sad. Yes I am secretly a 74 year old spinster.....you got me.

Be constructive no destructive with anyone.

I'm not the one that started the 'Sting sucks...like McCartney" thread. It seems if I go against anything you say, then I am considered a sad old person.

Stop throwing again and again and again your unhapiness here.

Once again, I am not unhappy...just annoyed that you guys keep bring bringing back the Stew and Sting rivalry....and decide to trash him youselves.

You said No-one hear SC music, and is an absolute lie.

No it's more like an exageration. Like....walk down the street and ask 10 people to name 5 Sting songs...most could do it, now ask thoes same 10 people to name 5 Stewart songs, and see what you get. Does that make one's music better then the other? NO

I don't understand why you are always fighting here with all of us trying to all love Sting music.

I don't see why you all keep having to trash him.

But here is the wrong place to your intentions.

This is a Stewart forum, not a Sting Sucks forum. So this is the wrong place for YOUR intentions.

You haven't made a point yet. I don't know about god music. But you really show your ignorance when you deduce that I think the only GOOD music is what the masses hear.--

No you really show your ignorance when you think what I said was JUST THE OPPOSITE of what I actually did say.

Yeah typos in my earlier responce, but I only had a few min to write it, because I had to get to school....I was only planing on peeking int, but not saying anything!

I'm a fan of every member of The Police.I like all of Sting's solo stuff although I haven't heard anything past "Mercury Falling" so I can't comment on any of his newer releases."Fields of Gold", "I'm so Happy....", "Lazarus Heart" and most of the tracks from his first solo album are great though.

You should definatley get Brand New Day, and Sacred Love was pretty good (but definatley not his best), and I really don't care for All This Time.

"Whereas, I don't think that men aren't as threatened by Paul McCartney."

I just wanted to point out that in my 2nd post I corrected this grammatical error to say, "Whereas, I don't think that men are as threatened by Paul McCartney."

It was just really bugging me.

Wow, I leave for a few minutes and all Hell breaks loose!

I'm not going to start any trouble, I would like to suggest that music is really about feeling. You really can't command someone to feel the way you want them to, so music really has no right and wrong. Some Love the way a song makes them feel and others won't be moved by it. It's like paintings, some hate abstract art and love realism...others the opposite.

...that's all, but really what the heck do I know!...my music likes are getting weirder as I get older, I'll prove it...look at what I listened to at work today. Seriously, I may be going crazy (heh, heh)

This really is what I enjoyed today:
- Grace from Orchastralli
- 3rd song from Taranta
- Bob Dylan Yazoo Street Scandel
(actually it was the entire Basement tapes album)
- Dean Martin Live 1966 (couple tunes)
- couple songs from the Last Waltz
- most of Ghost in the Machine.

...if I had a polka CD I would be listening to it now.

Anyway, that's all. :D
Have a Happy day everyone!
Cheers.

Heyyyyyyy again.

Postby georgygirl on 26 Jan 2006 05:31

For me you are not weird about your music preferences, why you think so?

Maybe because at your age you are very different from the crowds, but I think is because your preferences are more selected, and not many people can understand it.

Is like me when I have to pick up my sons at school and have some Police or Oysterhead CD.
Gino my son said the other day to me;
-Mom when you are going to pick me up, please turn off the radio.
I like you hear rock & roll, but all parents always are listening The News, and you heared Rock & Roll music.

Is different when I hear some SC score music, because is more peaceful, and with adult acceptance, I have no problem with my kids.

I think I now how you feel, but well, is just an effect of society life.
It has some hard and sweet things to face it, but definetly, are more sweet and good things, don't you think so :?:
