Once back at home after 4 concerts...

3 in Vancouver and Edmonton, I´d like to share with you some of what I´ve seen. First of all, this is a great show with some very high points but with a few low points too. Most of what I´ve read here so far is quite what I think: slower tempos, keys changed, new "arrengements", too many hits... and that´s because of Sting. I saw the 3 hours soundcheck/rehearse in Edmonton and I can say Sting rules!!! He stops the songs, change keys and tempos, ask Jeff Seitz for the tempo they are playing... and, oh no!!!, they rehearsed "Don´t stand so close to me" a lot of times!!!

The main disappointing song is "Don´t stand so close to me", too slow, boring and very repetitive at the end and a kind of mix between 80 and 86 versions. But I have to admit that is the song that the audience gets craziest once they recognize it.

Stewart drumming is simply amazing. Just what I expected.

Andy´s solos are really great and we don´t have to compare them with the ones in the 80´s.

Sting does a really good job on bass and singing and the new bass lines are mostly great. Maybe he should take some more risk singing higher...

They should jam longer in Bed´s too big without you, So lonely or Roxanne.

For all of you going to more than one concert, the only set list changes in the 4 concerts I´ve seen have been that in May 30th "Truth hits everybody" disappeared and in June 2nd "Murder by numbers"and "Next to you" disappeared too. The show needs some set list changes every night, just to keep it fresh during so many months. "Bring on the night", "Tea in the Sahara", "Deathwish", would help a lot!!! In other words, give the audience a surprise!!!

Stadiums don´t help the band. Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton was half empty, or half full, if you want. Much better in arenas although they have to play 2 nights in every city.

Unfortunately, this show is not only for us, members of this Forum, but for the massive world audience out there. Most of them maybe didn´t see the band playing live in the 80´s and can hardly recognize other songs but the hits, but we still can enjoy the high points like Message, World running down solo, Driven to tears solo, Walking on the Moon, Bed´s too big, Can´t stand losing you, Roxanne, So lonely and Next to you. Can you imagine what the "Stewart band" would be with a few changes/improvements?

It's great to read another mature, non self-serving critique! Seriously. I am gaining hope that there are still a few true Police fans out there who can handle the new changes and aren't crying for a new setlist every show! Your review was constructive and revealing, yet non-whiny.

Great job! :)
