I just want to add I said I could understand where he was coming from, however it doesn't mean I agreed with him.

Each there own and keep the peace.

it is all about respect also.

I also know these guys are nothing like the media. As for the critics of movies that was just an example for everyone does have their own dislikes and likes.

That's all folks!

Constructive critics are good to improve a work.

Destructive critics are not to good because it can destruct a work.

But anyway, I think everybody have the right to say what they think, but the guys has to select what critics take seriously...

Okay, that is just my point of view.

Ok for all you people who don't approve of police bashing. I say first and foremost those who say "if you want to hear the police as they were in the eighties go listen to the cd's". BOLLOCKS!. The ONLY reason The Police are able to do these shows and sell out is Nostalgia and dont forget it. Nostalgia now seems a bigger seller than any other with a hundred million tribute bands making a killing simply because they can.

Now people aren't battering on about the police sounding crap because they're stuck in the past. They're just disappointed that they waited for 23 years to see the police and keenly remember the explosive energy that was often released on stage only to find themselves sorely disappointed. The fact that these people have waited so long and paid,in some cases, really stupid sums of money gives them justifiable cause to be disappointed.

Slagging people off for saying that the songs seem slow, staid or watered down is not doing anyone any favours. As a musician if some one tells me my version of a song sounds crap instead of running into a corner to soothe my bruised ego i damn well take stock and do something about it!
As i'm sure The Police will do! It is still early days and it is worth bearing in mind, ticket buyers, that shows early in the tour are often the roughest.

ALSO TO THOSE WHO SAY DON'T SLAG OF THE POLICE ON THIS SITE AS IT IS PURELY FOR UNBRIDLED ADORATION AND WORSHIP. WAKE UP! JUST BECAUSE IT'S NOT YOUR OPINION DOES NOT MAKE IT INVALID!

Absolutely 100% spot on robbie. One of the most sensible posts I've read so far on this whole subject.

When people invest a huge amount of emotional and financial clout into something like this, they expect perfection AS THEY WANT TO HEAR IT!

This is THE POLICE!! Perfection comes as second nature!!

As I said a while ago, folks' expectations are very high, perhaps unrealistically, even my own, so anything less than perfection is bound to disappoint a little.

Yeah, but there's good slagging - 'my personal opinion is this song is too slow, this one needs more bass' - and there's coming out and calling something crap, or whining that you want your money back, or whatever.

I don't think it's any less valid an opinion to state that you want to hear the songs however the band wants to play them, since they're the ones who wrote and arranged them to begin with. Personally, I don't want to hear songs exactly as they were 20-odd years ago; because I've heard a lot of Andy and Stewart's solo work since then and come to appreciate it.

(That said, I haven't heard any of the tour recordings and won't till next Saturday night, when I finally get to hear 'em live for myself.)
