New Questions for Stewart 2006

So many questions, so little time. . .
1. OK. . What is the story behind 'fuck off you cunt' written on your drum heads circa 1982?

2. Have you published an instructional video or book regarding your drumming technique? I think your style is certainly as worthy as Neal Peart's, who has put out several.

3. Its now coming up on 20 years since the Police went on 'sabbatical'. How does it feel (strange/annoying/gratifying etc) to still be asked questions about the band/music/improbable reunion?

I don't want to speak for Mr Copeland but I can tell you what I know of it.

#1 - I believe it just a kinda "snub" to Sting, I remember watching a DVD, I think it was "20th Anniversary" one. It has all the video's and Monseratt studio footage (mabe Outlandos to Synchronicty VHS). Anyway, Sting is kinda laughing about it because Stewart would postion all his cymbals to block his view of Sting on stage. They were just arguing like brothers kinda thing at that time...so Stewart wrote a little message to him on his skins. (I have to admit I did the same thing on my drums way back when). I think it's pretty funny.

#2 - I know this one. No he hasn't. At least nothing you can get officially. That is the one DVD I would love. If you get Orchastralli (DVD + CD) at the beginning there is a short scene of him warming up on the drums, it's not very long but Man! If you wern't blown away by his playing this will do it!. I have watched that little clip a lot...he switches smoothly from traditional grip to matched, nice. I really wish he would do a longer one.

Maybe one day on this site we might see some drum practice footage in the multimedia section...whad-da-ya-think Giovanni ? (heh, heh).

Ok that's all I know. Maybe Stewart will correct any of facts.

I understand about them fighting. But I don't understand how writing on his drum heads would be bothersome to Sting, since SC would be the only one who could read it. I figured that 'fuck off you cunt' was something Sting wrote to vandalize SC's kit. Also, what would be the effect of blocking his view of Sting with the cymbals?

My only question is when will you be playing in England next with Gizmo or whoever. It is a lifelong ambition to see as many of my music heroes play. Unfortunately will never see Jimi, Bob or Kurt but must see you play live. Would be really good for me but not the end of the world. Guess I've got more important things in life now as I've a got a nipper due soon but music is no2 u know and would love to see ya do the business. Kindest regards mate.

The answer to question no1 is that he was directing it at you but didn't know it.

If you look on the Zenyatta pictures on the back of the LP you can see the "FUCK OFF YOU CUNT" on snare/tom toms (probably says "small dick with warts" on the octos ((not that funny Frank)) ). It must be either a superstitious thing or a joke or something. I guess theres only 3 people (maybe more) who know the answer to this. I remember reading that when I was 11 and thought it was great.
