>>>Dean Goodman: You suck.

That is a fake name for a porn star - right?

;) I actually revised that into something a tad more articulate, phat.

Here's the thing, guys: We all know Stewart is more than capable of taking up for himself. Here's hoping he calls up this Goodman and gives him an earful.

Cripes, how long before the press gets up in arms about Stew's use of the word 'pansy' and gay rights groups start demanding an apology.
Thanks Stewart!

Leave it to the media to take one perfectly good story and twist it to their self serving purposes. It's sad that this "journalist" has to spin a story due to his incompetency in the area of research. I'm sure there are better stories out there, aside from a band member giving his own frank critique of his performance. Maybe this is the only "bad" thing Dean Goodman could find to say about the Police's performances so far. Even he states, "Most of the 20,000 fans at the venue might not have noticed a series of small flubs, but Copeland, singer/bassist Sting, and guitarist were painfully aware of them." Of course they did. They know how things are supposed to go, and they are perfectionists. Now excuse me while I go growl at something.

My impression of Stewart's post was the focus on the humour of the situation. I felt the lightness and humanity in his words as he described the gig. All of that was lost in the British tab version (SHOCKER!!!). As another famous rocker once said, "If I had a dollar for everytime I was misquoted in the press, I'd be r--- oh wait a minute! I AM RICH!!!"

Man, I love you people. Copelandia sure do come out swingin'!

Much as the article annoys me, remember that this is indeed a PUBLIC forum. What you or I or Stewart says is public record and is therefore fair game. No permission needed.

The article is deficient because it ignores the obvious HUMOR of SC's post and instead replaces it with "vitriol" and similar blahblah; that's bad journalism throwing sensationalism into the mix. But for the most part, the "facts" (i.e., SC's words) are correct. So there's not much recourse to be had, if any at all.

It sucks that it has become a story because it's a reminder that SC has to be careful when he speaks. But SC already knows that. It mostly sucks for us to be reminded of it. Especially if it results in our connection getting cut off for a while.

Like I said, it was a beautiful dream. But much as we like to think he's ours alone, The Stewart belongs to the whole world.

But I'll bet all you lovelies have him grinning and beaming with pride right now.

(Just look at all the love, Stewart.)

ETA: PS -- Just look at the KRAZY number of hits SC's post has gotten in such a short amount of time.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story."
"There's no such thing as bad press."

HAW!

And I do think SC has a leg to stand on, when it comes to using items off this site, for a few different reasons...there's a fair body of law on Internet communications. This is his official site, it's got his name in the URL, etc. Although even apart from that most journalists do respect the concept of 'on the record.'

If I were this Goodman, I think I'd expect not to be granted any formal interviews with Stewart anytime soon...one would hope not, anyway.

Stewart could give him best greetings from his fans ...

Well, that blows! He took it totally out of context and he obviously doesn't "get" Stewart.

I admit I was abit tweaked by a SC's "It's only music" comment. That may the way he looks at it (I hope he doesn't though), but I've worked awfully hard to make the dough that I'm spending on these guys. It is turning out to be considerable :? Love 'ya Stewart, but "I'll take my reality check now, please."

Stepping off my soapbox...the man was confiding in his fans that everyone, even the mighty Police, f*ck up now and again and he's not afraid to admit it. That's admirable. Thank God they're not swinging at each other over it!!

Ignore the bastard! The more we talk about it, the more attention will be drawn to it.

STEWART: Please continue to let up know what's going on behind the scenes!!

I've read similar things from Andy: "It's only pop music"...My guess is it's a reaction to people going SO overboard over popular bands. You know, like folks trying to run Bono for President and whatnot. It'd be tough to keep your perspective when the public/press are hyperventilating over everything you say/do...

Just some $.02.

Calm down, folks. This sort of thing happens a lot. I remember getting enraged over a completely invented write-up of of last year's Sundance casting Sting and Stew in diametrically oppositional lights. When i vented my outrage here, Stewart calmly pointed out the story's fabricated nature...

"Professional" journalism really does seem to be in sort of a downward spiral these days. They will chomp at the bit to say anything to keep getting your attenition, because they now literally have to outpace the whole frikkin' networked world.

They've already lost me, mostly. I deem you lot to be more reliable in your reporting of events important to me!

Yeah, this is another example of how journalists treat their readers, manipulating everything they want for their needs and forgetting to do their work, that is reporting as truthfully as possible about "news" or clearly stating their *opinions*.
I've had a couple of experiences myself in the past, now I am "vaccinated".
