Howdy neighbor!!!

First are you going to be up for the Dallas show? If so, don't forget that we are going to have a small fan gathering at El Fenix Mexican restaurant near Field street and only a block or so away from the AAC. We are getting together around 5:00pm on June 26 just before the show.

And yes! Where are our texting people??? Usually there's someone posting on the boards straight from their phone keeping everyone up to the minute as to what's going on. I don't see any here or on the Police boards.

This is weird because I'm used to the U2 boards being on fire during every show with people texting in the song list.

I actually like the set list! I'm suprised it's so short though.

DAMN! Dietmar beat me to the computer! I was just about to type the setlist.

More info later then, but kids,

WOW.

STEWART WAS AMAZING.

And drummers, the man was literally surrounded by percussion on all 4 sides. Awesome.

I can't decide if my favorite part was

a. Stewart drumming
b. Stewart singing
or
c. Stewart tripping
(Tee hee.)

THANK YOU, STEWART.

The man was quite busy hopping up and down and back and forth. So, it's only natural.....you'll see

The show was GREAT! Sting and Andy were in top form.
STEWART WAS FANFUCKINGTABULOUS!
And I'm not just saying that. You'd think the man was still 25 watching him play! Incredible!

Wish all you folks coulda been there!
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

This was my first Police concert, and I was blown away.

Stewart is an animal! He still plays with the exact same intensity he had 24 years ago. Finally seeing and hearing him play live was amazing.

Not that my opinion actually matters, but in case Stewart actually checks in to read this , I only have a few (hopefully) constructive suggestions:

- I would move "Don't Stand" a little further back into the setlist as I felt that the newer subdued arrangement brought the energy down a little too quickly after the awesome opening tracks.

- Stew and Andy really need to be more "camera aware" and crack a smile every now and then ( while playing). The big screens are amazing, but when Andy and Stew are "zoning out" and the camera is zoomed on their face, it's hard to tell if they are just concentrating or having a seizure. :)

Other than those 2 minor things, I thought the show was perfect. Obviously there were little mistakes, but the show is everything I had hoped it would be, and a little more actually. I loved the new arrangements and extended improvisational sections. The little bits of sequencing sounded great, and the sampled backing vocals were just the right level. There was a good amount of contrast and energy throughout the show overall, and the song selection was great. Stewart's trips back into the percussion cage are definitely highlights.

I'm sure there will be some fans that will want to hear all the songs exactly the way they did them 24 years ago, but I think the new arrangements are a perfect reflection of who they are right now. Yes there were a lot of Stingified arrangements, but when they rocked, they ROCKED!

I can't wait to see them again tomorrow night, and I'm dying to get my hands on a DVD version of this tour when its over.

I honestly felt I had gotten my money's worth by the end of the first song!

Thanks again Stewart!

The show was fantastic, though it wasn't without some footsteps (literally from Stewart as he stumbled during one song (I think it might have been Wrapped but I could be wrong) when he swiftly stepped away from his drum kit to hit his fancy cymbal and big bass drum arrangement that he used during several songs that almost gave them a cool, almost symphonic-like quality to songs similar to stuff he's used in his film scores. His recovery was brilliant and was definitely the highlight for me!

The show itself was just a tad over two hours. It was perfect the set was arranged, especially for the first show. I can't wait for the Dallas to see if it changes at all or whether they do more monkeying around with the instrumentation. One arrangement that really stood out for me was Don't Stand So Close to Me which was a sort of hybrid of the original and the 86 version. I enjoyed hearing the varied arrangements and fusions of songs and did not want to hear a repeat of the 80's concerts.

Maybe even more fun for me than the show itself was all the wonderfully cool people I've got to meet here. There are so many to mention, but I have to start with all the people who post here first. Dirty Martini, Samburu Sunset, GinaSuperCat, Copelandos D'amour (Chris), Michelle, Outlandos Girl, Dietmar, Laz and Miguel (only a fraction of the many people I'm sure I'm neglecting) in particular were a boatload of fun to bond with during the long waits in line. Although I didn't get a chance to talk with them at length, it was great to meet Dave and Wendy who have to be commended for doing the impossible with the setup of the fan club show party. It was a lot of fun and the raffle prizes are really cool. Dirty Martini got the coolest prize, the Message in a Box CD set signed by all three guys! Stewart's fans are simply the best and I hope we all get to meet again at other shows someday! It was also a great pleasure talking with Gert about his upcoming book and film projects and I can't wait to hear more them as their publication gets closer. He has some great stuff coming and hopefully we'll all be able to enjoy them! It was also great briefly meeting Nancy Rose, Fallout, and a host of other people whose names I'm forgetting including various lurkers.

There were a lot of cool and interesting people in line who will hopefully be coming on here soon as it was obvious from the fan response in the audience that a good deal of them are Stewart fans. From my estimates, he got the biggest and loudest cheers.

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to write more (though I forgot to bring my notepad to the show so my memory will most certainly not be perfect) hopefully later this week.

Simply put, I still feel like I'm sort of surreal dream and can't believe this was happening. I can't wait for my next show in Dallas on June 26th.

Oh and Fiction Plane was great Saturday night. Hopefully I'll be able to write more about that, too.

The Police delivered and then some. Lights go down, Stewart’s percussion ensemble including gong giganticus start to rise from the stage (spinal tap fans, there was no replica of Stonehenge on stage). When this thing was struck it reverberated through the entire stadium and was then followed by an amazing set of music.
There where interesting renditions of songs that will appeal to any fan.
As Dm mentioned; Stewart tripping along the way was amusing too!
Can't wait until the Wednesday show 8)
