Planning on Bonnaroo? Post Here!

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 14 May 2007 16:07

Sure thing, cp...I'll be glad to collect contact info too, but since you've taken the bull by the horns let's volunteer you for the job.

Since we're going to have a lot of stuff to discuss that won't be relevant to folks on the board here, I've started a temporary Yahoogroup:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/scnetbonnaroo/

This way we can email each other easily without having to constantly look up addresses, CP can easily distribute copies of the contact list, etc.

My 2 cents: please post anything on SC.net that you think might be helpful to the casual reader of SC.net (what you can take into Centeroo, what accommodations are available in town, what the weather will be like, etc.)

On the Yahoogroup, post things like your personal cell phone number, what time you're arriving, where you'll park your car, etc.

The point of this is NOT to take traffic off SC.net; just to make it easier for people to not have to read a lot of personal info that isn't relevant to the Police set at the concert. (Gio, email me if you have any issues with this at all.)

I've set the Yahoogroup where I have to approve anyone who wants to join, so random folks can't barge in and hog up all the bandwidth. If you want to subscribe, send an email to

scnetbonnaroo-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

(Unsubscribe: scnetbonnaroo-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com)

Once I've approved you, send an email to

scnetbonnaroo@yahoogroups.com

and it will go to everyone who's joined the group. Thanks for playing, folks...this is going to be a blast.

In super heat I've always found that covering yourself in really light weave and light colored clothing is cooler than cooking your skin with less...especially arms and shoulders...I have some white cotton gauze shirts because once your shoulders, arms, and chest get sunburned, it's really hard to cool off at all! Hat seems essential, too!

30 Days till Bonnaroo, as of today!!!!

Great idea, Dive...we will only be using it for things we wouldn't post here anywhere (and save the trouble of separate pm)...

Cheers!!

Thanks GSC! I just posted another big long list of reminders, then decided to take CP up on his suggestion that we start a new logistics thread, as opposed to this "Whee! We're going to Roo" thread. So I'll take 'em over there!

Forgot one thing: You will smother to death wearing a polo shirt in a dark color at Bonnaroo. I usually wear a tank top every year, and a long sleeve white shirt I got at the thrift store.

What gets you out here isn't the heat (everyone in chorus) it's the humidity. We should have plenty of both...Wonder if we could order SC.net tanks.
Umm..Gina....will you guys be cooking eggs in the morning on that stove? I can bring the coffee perhaps?
Heh, just saw this <giggle>...no, I don't think we'll be bringing eggs with us (we're bringing a 5 day cooler but I'm kinda like Monk about food storage temps and I just am not sure about storing perishables like that in the cooler...hahah)...

We will be brewing up some mean Gevalia coffee every morning so if you are VIP accessible, you are welcome to some good coffee!! I'll probably be trying to eat (were planning on oatmeal at this point...) and be ready before the yoga class in the am, but if the pot is on, you are welcome all of y'all!

If I had access to a full kitchen or even kitchenette, I'd cook up a mess of biscuits, eggs, etc. etc. and make sure all the SCnetters were fed a proper breakfast, but alas I think it will be just oat and cereal, at least for our first Roo...we can scope out the munitions for next time <grin>

I'm in a hotel, but it most likely won't have a kitchen or even a fridge. :( we will be driving in every day, so I may wind up doing a few ice runs...

Hey just found this out: one bit of bad news, one good: Les Claypool is confirmed at other venues for the whole Roo weekend <cry> but his new mockumentary about a festival jam band, entitled "Electric Apricot," will be shown at Roo...

All the lineup announcements are final, no more additions...Full schedule should be available shortly...

Bonnaroo countdown is in TWENTY ONE DAYS!!!!!

PS: Miss you around the boards DMotD...hope you are having a great week on your dive!!!

MeEEooWW! The next countdown thread will be for BonnaRoooOOo! <grin>

Hubby is on the Inforoo boards daily now <chuckle>

Did I say the schedule would be up shortly? Well here it is <giggle>:

http://www.jambase.com/festivals/festiv ... .asp?ID=19

Ummmm, Sunday is just *insane* <drool> And Sat: The Police followed by the Flaming Lips? I may overload!

But Ornette Coleman overlaps both Wilco and the White Stripes <cry> And the Roots at the same time as Manu Chao <just splits into two like an amoeba>

WHAT?! They have Wilco, the Stripes and Coleman overlapped...?

DAMN them. Just damn them. They do this to me every time. I've missed both Neko Case and Mike Doughty, two of my all time favorites, at this thing b/c I figured I needed to expose myself to some other new music...but this is taking things too far.

Shit. That just blew my whole good mood. Sigh...And - they've got Tortoise, Paolo Nutini and Richard Thompson against each other. AND Frente, Kings of Leon and Gillian Welch tripled up. AND Lily Allen, Manu Chao and Roots!! Plus DJ Shadow on at 2 AM. AND my favorite local band, the Dynamites, up against the FLips!! DAMN it. Just...DAMN it!! This really incredibly sucks.

I'll be back for real tomorrow, GSC. Thanks for the good word.

Sorry I may not have explained it clearly, I've been kinda extra-mental lately <grin>

Wilco plays then White Stripes Plays, no overlap between the two of them, but Ornette Coleman overlaps with the last half of Wilco and the first half of White Stripes...

Sorry for the confusion...the schedule above at Jambase has it all mapped out...

It'll be a blast, we'll all just have to choose wisely, or travel during sets <grin>

It's going to be a hot one for sure. It's already hot as hell and drrrryyyyyyy here. Can't be any hotter than the first one those. Walking to the stages the first year was almost like the Batann death march.

Get yourself a spray bottle with a fan on it. They can be had for around $10 at CVS...The things look totally corny but are awesome for beating the heat at Roo. I've got mine in hand already.

Starting tomorrow I am getting outside more often to get ready for the heat at Roo. Lots of yard work, playing with the kids, etc.

Dive and crew, time to start the roo gathering details soon. I already filled out the yahoo request and haven't heard back. Dive did my request get to you yet? I can try again if needed.

*bump*

:)

(mostly cause there's some good logistical info in here)

But...SUCK! They just announced the '09 lineup AND: Elvis Costello vs. Wilco at 6 PM Saturday night.

At least it isn't Elvis vs. Wilco vs. Venus 3 vs. Neko, which I had feared....

I'm thinkin' I may set up camp this year just so I can build up steam for the 2 AM Public Enemy/Femi Kuti sets...
