Why no tour dates in the US South?

Postby mike_lawyer on 17 May 2007 14:12

Hey guys,

I live in Richmond, Virginia and am fortunate to be close enough to Hershey to see the Police play there. But ever since the tourdates have been announced, I have been wondering why there are not really any dates in the south of the U.S.? For example, there are no dates in Charlotte or in Atlanta (you would think that Atlanta would be on the list b/c of the Synchronicity concert connection). Are these cities going to be on the second leg of the U.S. tour? Any ideas?

This is what everyone's thinking. Especially since the DC/VA area's been a little snubbed (regardless of the Virgin fest).

I hear ya, mike_lawyer. Personally, since I can't travel this summer to Cleveland, Hershey or any of the other venues, I have been hoping against hope that another US leg of the tour gets announced for later in the year (so that some of the overlooked areas, like Atlanta, Charlotte etc - as well as my own Pgh - get picked up & we poor lost souls have another shot. ) But that will mean an incredible marathon of a tour, so who knows if another US tour leg is realistic...

Yeah, Hershey was realistically the closest place for me to go from Richmond, Virginia. I grew up in Lancaster, PA, so my fiancee and I are going to make it a long weekend vacation where I can show her where I grew up.

But I can't help but think that a bunch of people are missing out on this tour in Charlotte and Atlanta. I just don't understand why those cities would be left off the tour.

I'm in here now but did I read a post about Argentina dates in Dec?
Now I know that is like south, south America, but maybe they will start at the bottom and work their way up?

And I know the US is just a little bit bigger than the UK but there is no scottish dates either.

Maybe they can't book the sites for the dates.... or....... I dunno...

STEWART!!! Why no southern US gigs?

Well, I'm thinking they're saving a bunch of spots for the alleged 2nd leg. I live in Balto and jumped at the Hershey tix since I didn't know if/where else they might be playing. Of course, I had no idea that I'd be flying across the continent to see them twice in Vancouver. And, by luck, and Andy's friendship with Richard Branson, they're playing Virgin Fest (15 mins away from me). SO, if they don't hit DC I'll be OK.

BUT, I definitely think they should for all the folks who aren't as lucky. The whole southeast part of the country is missing from their schedule. I know they've GOT to do Atlanta. There were so many shots of Atlanta in Stew's movie Andy asked if they ever played anywhere else. So, they can't not go there. (Hmmm....two negatives. Must mean they gotta go, then. ) They haven't hit San Diego either. My sister lives there and I was toying with the idea of flying out and taking my nephew if they play there.

Don't loose faith. The boys are gonna need a rest and to spend some time with their families. Then they'll be good to go a little longer. :D
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

That's why i jumped at Bonnaroo when it was announced. At first i dreaded the heat, the crowd, the filth, and the sheer enormity of the undertaking. But i came to see it as a rite of passage that would make seeing the performance just that much better.

Hopefully some more southern US dates will materialize!

I hope so...I would love to see them again on the third leg. Maybe they will play the Verizon Center in D.C. or the new arena in Charlottesville? Anyway, I hope that the folks here in the south have an opportunity to hear the boys play.
