OT: Anyone seen Riders on the Storm (The Doors sorta) play?

Just got an offer from Ticketmaster to see Riders on the Storm (aka "The Doors" -- sort of) on Friday night for $4. Yes, $4. For two people. Total. (If anyone wants the passcode for the show (Nokia Theater Times Square), drop me an email.)

But since it'll cost me a bit more in time, cash, and energy to get there, I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen them play? Particularly post-Ian Astbury?

Part of me would love to see Krieger play live, if only once. The other part of me is kinda scared/horrified that they're playing in their very own tribute band. (Apologies, SC, but you gotta admit that it's kinda weird.)

Thoughts? Reviews? Opinions?

I lied. Total cost with fees will be $8.65 for two people.

But a friend of mine decided we should go for it. Though I remain slightly scared.

Heh, I am still irritated that Manzarek dismissed Stewart's drumming as 'too busy' when they were fixing to reform with Ian fronting and Stewart playing the drums...pfffffftttttt

if Ian was still singing I'd take a second look if they were coming near me...I used to adore him, seems like I still do LOL....seeing Robbie would probably make it worth it....I was obsessed by the Doors in hs, just obsessed....but since Densmore won't have anything to do with post-Jim Doors stuff, they have Ty Dennis playing drums for them and I don't really know much about him, cept from MySpace [but those clips have Ian singing]:

This is their latest setlist in their current lineup:

My advice: don't think too much into it, go, have a blast, which I'm sure you will!!!

Heh. I was trying NOT to bring up the SC-drumming comment, but yeah, I'm in total agreement with that pfffffftttttt. But the last thing a tribute band wants is variation or newness -- which is another thing that scares me a bit about the whole idea.

I don't what my hang-up is -- there's just something that strikes me as off about the sitch somehow. But I too was obsessed with them in high school, so I'm probably just hung up on my younger idealizations of the band and crap.

Whatever. You're right -- we'll have a good time, and at the very least, I'll get to see 2 out of 4 Doors play. And for less than the price of a movie!
