THE POLICE is ready to build a TOUR Schedule in Latin America - Last Weeks of 2007 and first months of 2008!

If you remember what THE POLICE World Tour 2007 Promoter said about Latin America, he told about MEXICO, then South America...

So you have in one hand and obvious place: Mexico DF

Now with this new article consider THE POLICE will play free in CUBA

South America? Uhmm I think BRAZIL ( Rio de Janeiro and perhaps Sao Paulo) and ARGENTINA ( Buenos Aires) are the main gigs... next you have another possibilities of gigs...

If the tour will be on summer 2008....consider "Festival de la cancion Viña del Mar" like the return to one event THE POLICE performed before(CHILE - You know Michelle Bachelet chilean President is socialist and perhaps fit good on Sting than the years THE POLICE performed in Chile at the dictatorship era of former Assasin President Pinochet)

So, what you see in a map?

You will see a big continent "Latin America" with about 600 million people in a vast territorie of about 25 million of Km2 and whose THE POLICE used the beats and rythms of this side of the world for mixing and building one of the great roots of their unique music style...

In fact, THE POLICE will cover the north side of Latin America (Mexico) and a side of the caribean ocean (Cuba), then the sub-continent of Brazil (Portuguese descendants of around 250 million people), and finally Argentina ( an strategical point in the south of Latin America with around 40 million people and with boundaries with countries like Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile), finally you have the case of Chile that I discribed above, but that is the same of the south side of South America.

So what will happen with the north and central side of South America?
The other biggest countries of South America...

In the past THE POLICE made concerts in Caracas (Venezuela) but nowadays the political situation in this country isn't safe, Colombia the same with guerrillas... but what happen with the Andean region? The Andes is the main column of South America, and is the place of what the pure and native civilizitation of this side of the world build a great cultural and geo-political Empire (The Incas) before Europeans conquered our continent... you have Peru-Bolivia-Ecuador-South of Colombia-North of Argentina and Chile who was former territories of the Incas Empire... I mean the roots, a proper native language and culture were expanded in a vast territorie of South America.

If you looks from abroad the most identificable sides of the world, you thinks on identificable images... for e.g. Europe ( Cows and Moulins of Holland, Eiffel Tower, cheese, vin and Baguette from France) Africa ( Lions, Elephants, Sabana and African Tribes), Asia ( Great Wall and Chinese Mandarins in China or Taj Mahal and Saris in India)...so In South America the most identificable images of our region is (Carnival of Rio and Copacabana beach in Brazil and Llamas, Indigenous "quechua" people with his flutes plus typical clothes and "Machu Picchu" -Lost City of the Incas- in Peru)

Thats why I hope THE POLICE needs to consider making a concert in my land PERU, nowadays we are a safest country with an emergent economy, great stadiums for about 80,000 people and is the center of the Andean Region that represents around 150 million people of north and central side of South America. Lima (Capital City is so close to the Pacific Ocean) so if they want to took some pics only needs a little trip to an ancient Incas temple, wearing something typical, jamming with andean instruments and surrounded with Alpacas or Llamas

Also I think THE POLICE needs to make such a concert in Central America I think on Panama or Costa Rica!!

you are right Jose, and I hope they will come to Peru. I think they should also go to Chile: they played there when there was still Pinochet. I remember that the Human Rights Now Tour had to play in a city near the Chilean border to permit to Chileans to enjoy the concert. It should be a great statement of freedom if they would play Chile now. After Peru, of course!!!!

I hope that when The Police will come to Mexico, they visit more places than just Mexico, DF.

Monterrey will cover all part of Mexico's north states, and some from south of Texas, and maybe they will come also to Guadalajara, Mexico middle west.
