Anyone know anything about Oakland, CA (McAfee Coliseum)?

Postby DirtyMartini on 29 Mar 2007 00:04

I might be visiting some friends in the Bay Area at the same time as the Oakland show, so I'm considering buying tickets.

Does anyone know anything about McAfee Coliseum in Oakland? Great? Lousy? Easy to get to? Hard to get to? Good places to sit? Bad places to sit?

Any info is appreciated. Grazie!

Huge. Very few concerts are held there. It's where the Raiders play.

Horrible parking. Facilities aren't kept up (lousy bathrooms, etc. - it's a Raiders fans vs. Raiders owner thing).

BART is the best way to get to the coliseum.

Thanks for the insight, OutlandoGirl. That's very helpful to know, especially the part about the parking situation. Looks like we'll be taking BART and carrying extra TP with us. Thanks!

The parking can be rough but if you get there early its a breeze- in fact if you get there early enough parking is free as the gates are open but no one is at the doors. The stadium is an older cookie cutter baseball stadium so its not all that great (unlike say Pac Bell park across the bay which has great views). I bought 3 tix off Ebay rt on an aisle in sect 101- the 1st section on the right in the seats as you face the stage, but need to sell one of them if anyone is looking for a great seat.

When you leave the stadium the egress can be rough as everything funnels out toward one area (on both sides- there are 2 sides you can park on- north or south). If you park on the north side you can see the artists come in and out.
