Fish gotta swim
Birds gotta fly
Man gota sit and wonder why, why, why.
Fish gotta rest
Birds gotta land
Man gotta tell himself he understand.

Vonnegut was one of my heroes. *sigh*

The world is a diminished place without him.

(And if you don't know who he is, go pick up a copy of "Cat's Cradle" or "Mother Night" immediately.)

Those are 2 of my 3 favorite Vonnegut's, Sockii. The third is Sirens of Titan. Slaughterhouse Five is of course his most famous but these three are my personal favorites. We lost a great voice when KV passed away...

My only recollection of his work was in the movie Back To School with Rodney Dangerfield.

Quote from Wikipedia.

Vonnegut played himself in a cameo in 1986's Back To School, in which he is hired by Rodney Dangerfield's Thornton Melon to write a paper on the topic of the novels of Kurt Vonnegut. Recognizing the work as not Melon's own, Professor Turner tells him, "Whoever did write this doesn't know the first thing about Kurt Vonnegut."

RIP

I have read quite a few books by Vonnegut, most notably was "Breakfast Of Champions" and "Slaughterhouse Five". Some of his works were and possibly still are required reading for many literary courses in colleges and universities. Check this guy out, he is well worth a read.
