Just wondering if I'm alone on this. I don't go much to the PoliceTour boards anymore with all the venting about Sting vs The Police and it's too mellow and on and on.

I am thinking as I read these rants:

- The Police are going on Tour
- I am going to a bunch of shows I NEVER thought I'd see!
- lots of DVD's and box sets coming. (Police around the World)
- rumour of being able to buy a LIVE download of the show you were at.
- seeing lots of cool and happy video clips of the boys working on songs.
- even a few NEW Police songs coming.
- a documentary of this whole event is in the works.
- they are giving money to a "world water" charity.

Stewart ,Sting and Andy sure haven't givin us much to work with here! (sarcasim)

Gimmie a break! these are the best of times! why am I always hearing people bitch about stuff that hasn't even happened yet!! Am I crazy or what?

I just had to get this off my chest. Those awesome video clips make me so happy and then you go to a message board and BAM! negativity.

Anyway, I hope others are very happy and content with what they are doing, I am very, very thankful for all of this.

Thanks for putting up with my venting!

Positve vibes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um...yeah, I hang out here a lot more than at TPT also. There are some cool people over there, but I think you're right BB...people determined to complain will always find something about which to vent.

I'm just waiting for the tour to start and for all the positive reviews to start rolling in. I'm thinking of making one of those paper clip chains, like kids do to count down the days till Xmas, and removing one every day until May 28. ;)

Anyway, maybe I'll jump into someones negative post somewhere and tear a strip off them!!!

Ha - Can't wait to hear the number one band in the world!

I haven't been over there in a while (also, nothing against some of the cool people there, but there's a LOT of non-Police-related discussion). Are there any new areas of controversy? Or is it still the same whinging about the $100 fan club fee?

I've been sensing alot of the ol' "Oh my God, the Police BETTER rock this year, I'm afraid they're going to sound like Sting's lite jazz stuff" sort of thing... somebody posted something this morning over there about a supposed report from a NY paper about the guys shopping a demo of brand new music they wrote and recorded to different labels and none of the record execs liked it because it sounded too "lite jazz" and there was no "Roxanne" or "Message In A Bottle"...
Who knows...

You're right Bongo. Some people are bitching alot. Especially over on the TPT forum. I hang over here waaaay more. I jump over there about once a day to see if they've scheduled any shows in DC and to check on the Hershey get-together we're planning. And, the rehearsal vids of course. It seems like a much happier crew here and of course we all share a love and respect for The Man :D .

Man, I'm happy as a clam about all this Police activity! There are so many tantalizing things dangling in front of us I can't wait to reach! If there's one thing I've learned it's that some people aren't happy unless they're complaining about something.
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!
sounded too "lite-jazz"
Hmmm...You know, I hadn't thought about this prospect: the Police go all specialty-market, sort of like Stewart's Orchestralli stuff, and tell Clear Channel to kiss their butts.

I would love it, personally...

I can hear the TV news headlines already:
"Police Surprise Millions With All-Zither Funk Jam. Clear Channel Loses Shit. Film at 11."

In terms of the tour, etc., I find myself fluctuating between the extremes of "giddy" and "ecstatic."

(Edited cuz I'm apparently so excited that I'm "fluctutating.")

Heh, people need to read these "articles" with the same grains of salt that the Police probably take to them...and evaluate the relative strength of the sources..."a well placed source" is not convincing to me...at least anytime there is a negative comment, or a worry about whether they'll be any good, or what the music will be like, people jump in and infuse positivity into the discussion...at least that's what I see, I vigilantly try to do that where I can too <grin>

I said this earlier, but I think that people are reliving their pasts in a way, and that will always make the stakes so much higher...everything has to be "perfect"...everyone's so excited that there is much nervous energy about...kinda like before a wedding, everyone in your family is so excited that people start obsessing about the smallest, most inconsequential things, making big things of the tiniest matter, etc...and usually these are the family (ie the 'fans) acting out of love and wanting things to be perfect....but sometimes all that excitement and desire for the perfect day turns rather strangely negative, gets a little distorted and demented (see the show Bridezillas, for evidence <grin>)...

that's kinda how I'm seeing some of the "negativity"...the worry, at least...its a nervous energy, a hurry-up and wait for the perfect day...what can you do in the meantime except go a little nuts on the one hand, or incessantly post on the message boards trying to turn the negativity into a positive...

Once it starts, believe me, the positivity will overflow...sure there may be some voices of disappointment, since no one ever really gets their "perfect" day and you never really get to "relive the past" just as you never really get to go back...but most will see that this will be as pretty damn close as it gets... <grin>

It's definitely been getting crabbier and bitchier by the day over on TPT.com. I check in every couple of days but then am so much happier to come back here for some real discussion and fun that doesn't involve over-analyzing every little second of the rehearsal footage and/or massive amounts of Sting-bashing (or bashing of the Sting-bashers, etc etc etc...)

Hey Dive - you mean you can't appreciate the Official Basement Thread?!? The Official Appreciation of George Jetson Thread didn't float your boat?!?
But it's so topical and really sheds so much light on this whole experience!!
I don't know, I think you may be being a little narrowminded.....LOL

Actually, I think the whining about the $100 has subsided - it's moved onto whether we should/will get new music. Personally I'd give my left arm for a #6!

I'm still mad about the $100, I'm not even really interested in going to the site anymore.... this site is enough to check.

I keep thinking of how many t-shirts I could have bought at the concert with that.
“...and er, did anyone try just pushing this little red button?”
