It's my turn, I MET STEWART / Tokyo

[ part 1 : EVERYONE STARES ]

March 31 was the first day of screening "Everyone Stares" at Tokyo.
After the show HE showed himself in front of us. Yes, everyone stared, with their handy-phone camera faced to him.
Stewart expressed it as "everyone is holding out their toothbrush! "
The air changed into a relaxing mood and I suppose everyone felt his generosity.
Q&A started and we received answers full of wits and humors.

Some points from Q&A
*It depends on Sting whether the Police will play some new songs or make a new album. (But we've already had a little info from Gio)
*They are playing many songs to decide what will be on the set list. One of Stewart's recommendation is " MOTHER" (with a little grin on his face).
*He told what equipment to buy to a young drummer- girl.
*Sting is ready to ROCK (after all these "sophisticated" years = had enough rest), Andy is enjoying practicing on the guitar, and Stewart is confident that this tour will be better than ever, the best tour guaranteed! :P

[ part 2 : CONTACT ]

" I WILL meet him personally ! " I decided the day before, but I didn't know what to do.
So I took the most simple way.
After Q&A (some girls in the front row ran after him and handed him bouquets), I get out into the lobby, searched the "staff only" door and asked a man there if I can get in, saying " Can I say hello to Mr. Copeland? perhaps(small voice) HE KNOWS ME...... (wow! what a exaggeration! help me Gio!) and pass him my name card "Uccellina/ KRYPTON".

After 2~3 minutes, the man came & guided me into the room(!!), where HE was resting, smiled at me.
There, sitting on a sofa, with his daughter, his friends(?), other 5~6 persons.
It happened so naturally but it was not like reality. I tried not to be awkward but had already lost my marker-pen.
Borrowed a pen and I asked his autograph on "the RHYTHMATIST" album, glad to have some conversations but I couldn't say what I wanted, because " my tongue has tripped me ".
However it was wonderful. I had a special moment. The people around him were friendly too, I felt their warmth.

Thank you Stewart for letting me into the room.
Thank you Gio and my international friends in this forum, for encouraging me to meet Stewart.
& Thank you to someone who lent me the marker-pen. (Oh, did I return it !?)

[ part 3 : WHAT'S ALRIGHT FOR YOU? ]

"Being a fan" is a weird feeling.
In the old days, I didn't go to the Police show, because I was afraid to get swallowed in that chaos.
And I was thinking " what's the use of screaming and crying, is that the behavior you can do in front of the ones you love? " But I think I was jealous in a way.
And now, watching again in the movie all those "frenzies", I have a feeling of respect for their enthusiasm.
Ugly in one way, but a kind of beauty in it.

The time has passed.
Now, why do we want to meet him in person?
Just listen to the music and go to the concerts----isn't that enough?
What do we expect from him?

I don't have a clear answer yet, but for me, it's like......
a chance to show my regards for him, thank him for the influence upon my life.
Not expecting anything from him, but expecting if there's any thing I can do for him, like Gio and his company did.
And you? :D

Very cool. Thanks for the info.

>>>*Sting is ready to ROCK (after all these "sophisticated" years = had enough rest)<<<

There have been some encouraging signs, but I'm still going to believe it when I see it ("Wait and See"...get it?).

>>>*They are playing many songs to decide what will be on the set list. One of Stewart's recommendation is " MOTHER" (with a little grin on his face).<<<

That confirms that the picture that showed up a while back was far from final, which is good. It may have even been an old set list from the Synchronicity tour. It also gives me another chance to put in a word for some songs that weren't on it:

Truth Hits Everybody
Man in a Suitcase
Darkness
OMEGAMAN
NO TIME THIS TIME

>>>*It depends on Sting whether the Police will play some new songs or make a new album.<<<

That's good though, for those of us who are hoping for it. At least we know Stewart and Andy are ready to do it. It also throws more suspicion on that quote that somebody claimed here a while back about them already recording two songs...

>>>I don't have a clear answer yet, but for me, it's like......
a chance to show my regards for him, thank him for the influence upon my life.
Not expecting anything from him, but expecting if there's any thing I can do for him, like Gio and his company did.
And you?<<<

I'm not really blown away by celebrity, but if I met Stewart, I think I would basically tell him I dig the Police, and that he is the baddest drummer ever, period. Dude can flat out PLAY.

Uccellina, you rock. That is fabulous.

This whole section is lovely, Uccellina. Very well said. And I'm sure that, despite your nervousness, your appreciation was evident to Stewart.

Congratulations and thank you for sharing!

Fantastic experience, I loved reading it!
I'm happy for you Japanese fans, you had your chance to meet the man in person, and I'm extremely happy if in a very small way, this forum could be of help.

Wow! Uccelina, that's fantastic! :D What a smart idea with the card. I don't know that I would've been that clear-minded.

So glad you got to meet our man! Glad to hear from another fan that he's a nice guy. :D

Who knows if Stewart likes signing stuff for all of us, but he does it often and usually with a big ol' smile. He did say in one of the Dinner Tales that the after-show clamour is usually welcome...he seems to have a sense of humor and some perspective on it, which is probably at least partly why so many of us are nearly fanatically loyal to him.

Welcome, new folks. We hope you'll hang around.

Hurray for you!!
Oh my goodness. I would have been so super excited that I don't know what I would have said. How exciting!
Yes, in my mind I know that the guys are human just like us but to do what they do and Stewart's talent moves me and hits me so deep that I imagine that it would be near impossible for me to act like I was just meeting just another human.
Congrats and thanks for sharing!
