Brief Review of Everyone Stares

[Wait and See]

I'm assuming most people here have seen the movie. I was ordering a couple of books from Amazon and remembered it, so I threw it in.

It's probably worth the $10 just to see Sting eating at Denny's.

Otherwise, it's definitely a rare look inside the workings of a major band. Stewart deserves a lot of credit for putting it together too, considering he did most of it himself. I guess the only negative to me was that there wasn't enough music in it (from the period I mean, even though Stewart's new versions were very cool). The footage of Sting and Andy working out "De Do Do Do" is cool to see...I wish there was more stuff along those lines, but it goes without saying that it's the road stuff where Stewart would have had the most time to mess around with the camera. You do get to see the insane tightness and aggression of the band early on in some of the concert footage, though. It'll be interesting to see how close they get to it this time around.

One side thought--Stewart definitely should not heed the calls to bring back the old shorts for the tour, but Sting ought to think about bringing back the flight suit. That was a cool trademark.

Overall, it's definitely worth seeing for anybody who hasn't, especially since the price is extremely affordable.

I like the derangements on the movie, cause it give a new sound to The Police's style and maybe it will capture teens and youngs generation.

For you and me The Police original tracks sounds cool, but maybe for young audiences it sounds a little bit old, so derangements sounds are fresher to The Police´s music.

I disagree. The old punk style playing from their early days would definitely appeal to a younger audience today. They started to get back into it a bit on "Can't Stand Losing You" at the Whisky. It's all about intensity. Unfortunately, there seems to have been a bit of conflict even then about Stew pushing the tempo, but I think it's a big part of what made the band work.

By the way, I'm not that old myself...

Definitely a flight suit, probably RAF. You can tell by the zippers. Also, Stew and Andy refer to it as such on the commentary track of the DVD-- apparently he was not known to wash it very often.

Well, as a teacher of teenagers I was asking them how does The Police's original music sounds, and they liked it, but told me that sounds a little bit old fashion style...

I show everyone stares dvd to some teenagers and they love derangements sounds cause they found it newer and fresher.

Anyway, is just my data teens experiences files here in Monterrey. México, but of course there are many way to think about it...

My two fave parts:

* Andy (and his pink sneakers) crying in the elevator
* Drummer falls off mountain

I laughed so hard at those two spots that I had to stop the film.

I don't think you really understand what I meant...most of the footage focuses on the "extra-curricular" aspects of the group...the traveling, the fans, etc. I just meant I would have maybe liked to see more of the creative process and so forth (like what they've been shooting for the upcoming tour). Nevertheless, these were Stewart's "home movies". He wasn't trying to create a documentary of the group at the time, so you can't fault him for footage he doesn't have.

Overall, the movie is very good.

My favorite parts:

*Andy is coming down the stairs at the hotel with the suitcase, then makes this pained snarly face at the camera then turns around to head back up the stairs.

*Stewart's little aside to the camera, whilst playing, and Sting is screaming at someone in the audience for throwing something...(?)

*Andy at the convenience store

*Kim makes Andy cry in the elevator! Bad Kim!

I, ahhm, er....don't really like Andy all that much, though.....er.... this is Stewart's forum, right...?

By the way, I second the vote on the flight suit for Stingo.

My favorite part of Everyone Stares is when Stewart falls down the mountain during the shoot of De Do Do Do De Da Da Da.

It was great overall. I enjoyed Stewart and Andy's commentary.
Behind the scenes at the shows was neat to see. The Stew-cam on his tripod and Andy yelling that he was playing too fast. The adoring female fans. Especially the Japanese and the one who said "Hello Gorgeous!" to the camera (because that's probably what I'd want to say to him ).

I like the movie because is a different view of my favorite band.
Maybe if I want to see the creative process of the group, there are some other videos like Police around the world or Police from Outlandos to Synchronicity...

But here, I like the avant garde effects that show me how can a rock star could feel in the process of play in world tours...

Too much landscape from hotel windows, to much travels by cars and buses, to many fans staring and all this material was capture from the I of Stewart, and maybe the interesting thing for me here, is to evaluate the creative process of cutting-editing a great documentary from a home movie...

One of my favorite part is when a fan girl staring was calling -Sting, Sting, Sting...

When he commenting with Andy, Stewart makes 2 references to his younger self not smiling ("Crack a smile Dude!). In contrast, it's interesting to note how fantastically happy he looks in all the 2007 pictures you see of him. May that grin ever shine!!

Synchronicuty screams 80's, but the rest not as much... Out and Reg could have easily have been from the last few years.

But Georgy, your their teacher... everything you like is uncool.
