Request for Stewart

Postby tothegrove on 24 Mar 2007 12:44

Since it seems Stewart is the only member of the group who reads and responds to posts and actually takes an active role in his personal site and seems to genuinely care care about the band's fans. I feel it is our duty to inform him of what The Police (not Sting solo) fans would like to see and hear in the upcoming tour, hey you never know it may make a difference. Here are my thoughts:

Please:
1. No Sting-jazz versions of Police songs e.g. Jazzes in the Rain, Jazz-crooning on the moon.
2. If you play Bring on the Night please do not change the key of the chorus and please don't segue into when the world...
4. Delve a little deeper into the catalogue then EBYT and Roxanne, since it's not billed as a greatest hits tour if you play Truth Hits or similar it will tear the roof off the place
5. Change the set list up a little every night, most fans have bought tickets for more then one show, Sting is famous for playing the same set with little changes for a whole tour, yawn.
6. please make the set longer then 1.5hrs, you may have a riot on your hands if any shorter considering the ticket prices
7. Remind your lead singer that all the shows have sold out so quickly because you're The Police and not Sting's backing band, a lot of fans make a distinction between both acts and obviously want to see a Police show and haven't been to one of his solo shows in many years
8. Rock
9. Rock some more
10. Did I mention to Rock?

What's your opinion?

My request list for the tour:

1. Enjoy it.
2. Take care of yourself.
3. Exercise.
4. Try not to make fun of Stingo's hair.
5. Send a postcard when you can.
6. Stay away from the brown acid.
7a. Remember to breathe.
7b. Sing from your diaphragm.
7c. If you can't breathe while singing from your diaphragm, let Andy shoulder the do-wops.
8. Keep breathing.
9. Drum solo.
10. Eat at least one vegetable (preferably a green leafy one) every day.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

My requests of you, Stewart, are:

1. Enjoy yourself immensely.
2. Rock out hard.
3. Make sure you take some time for your family.
4. Keep Sting in his place. You got long arms, you hold him out at arm's reach, he may not be able to touch you... Seriously. I'm a fan of Sting's solo career, as well, but I'm not paying for a Sting show. I'm going to see you and Andy too.

Most of all, stay happy and keep in touch when you can!

oh fer chrissakes

Stewart has explained time and again that what he wrote on his drums was NOT meant for Stingo. Watch Everyone Stares or read any interview where he talks about it. It was written in the studio in the spur of the moment when they were recording Zenyatta, it was just a lark. I dont know why some people hold onto this 'Stewart hates Sting' stuff, he has said repeatedly it just aint true, nor was it ever. Professional competetition and ego, sure. Hating each other? Never was that way per Stewart.
Thanks Stewart!

Marshmallow,
Easy matey, my comments were in jest.I've never thought for one moment Stewart and Sting hated each other - in fact quite the opposite.
On the video The Police Outlandos to Synchronicities Sting does says he had the comment on his drums and when Stew hit the drums he thought was hitting Sting, then he built his symbols so he couldnt see Sting!

But all this was said by Sting in jest, tongue in cheek. It was a joke he's even laughing when he says it.Stew then says he thought Sting was a scum bag but he's laughing and joking and then says of course he wasn't.

I believe they are like brothers but like brothers they may argue. Those arguments led to some of the best music ever written.Period.

No offence.

No offense taken and sorry if I came off as a twat, but I really wasnt directing that towards you, I realize your post was tongue in cheek. I just think it's funny when a lot of news stories come out with lines like 'they broke up in 1983 because of infighting and animosity' blah blah blah. I know it makes for juicy gossip for the tabloids but when the members themselves say it wasnt true you wanna just tell the writers to get a life.

again - no offense meant towards yourself...
Thanks Stewart!

As Nigel from Spinal Tap said: "Rock n' Roll!". That's all we can ask for folks and that's what they are expected to deliver! Maybe The Police will do a cover of "Big Bottom" or "Stonehenge"? 8) 8) 8)
