Police New songs expectatives

I haven't been following all these threads lately but...

Didn't Stewart say that they were at Sting's "castle" in England right now...but that news story said they were working on new material somewhere in Italy?

Has any of this been talk of new material been confirmed?

What I was getting at is that Sting seemed to be enjoying himself immensely, so talk of "escaping" seems somewhat out of character. I do think he was aiming at possibly trying to put something out on a retrospective A&M release that would be out during the tour, but I somehow doubt he would have gotten it written this fast.

I'm not Sting--but if I was--I would leave the future of the Police open as long as things are going well and everybody's getting along. He can't be immune to the response they've gotten, so why not play it by ear? He can do what he wants when he wants, and then they can get together whenever they feel like it for an album, tour, whatever. I think a new album would be good not only for the fans, but for Sting's career and creative energies. But what do I know?

agree, the way it characterizes the relationships and attitudes could be viewed as somewhat pejorative...I'm only saying that I didn't think Gio would ask about our speculations if the 'new song' element was just a tabloid rumor...I dunno

Sounds perfectly in character to me -- Sting's sarcasm blooms when he's not solo. Wait long enough, and one of them will get quoted in the press making a broken-rib joke. Like Stewart said (also in jest), they haven't throttled each other yet. So I wouldn't stress too hard.

The castle/villa thing did confuse me, too, though -- I thought Wiltshire = "castle"; Italy = "villa." So a source for the quote in general would be nice for some clarity. But since the guys are trying to lay low anyway, I wouldn't push the issue too hard.

i thought the quote from 'sting' was a little odd, and i'm still not sure i believe it, but i am enthralled at the possibility of new police music, BUT...

i don't want to hear about them doing sting's songs... if they can't collaborate, i'm not interested. jam some stuff out and see what happens. i have no doubt if sting dropped his ego for about 2 weeks and they truly worked together, there would be a police album worthy of their legacy.

that said, if two songs lays a foundation for something bigger, then i am cool with that. by the way, to those 'in the know', is there any news about message in a box II or any other releases? that news was coming fast and furious in the beginning, but is pretty quiet these days.

well...it seems there is a little bit of confusion....

1 - When Sting said at the Rehearsals in LA " we will play stuff we never played live " and when we all saw that the list of the songs rehearsed in Vancouver didn't show any never-played-Police-of-the-Eighties-song... for me it is obvious that they will play new stuff.

2 - Sting confirmed this news on the interview of a few days ago, that's why I said that the word is out, and he siad they are recording right now!

3 - What Stewart calls castle, is IL PALAGIO; all the medias around here, mainly radios and magazines, are spreading the same news.
You all know how the Palagio look like as you may have seen Sting 9/11 dvd, right?

Can you please provide a link? It's sort of standard internet/message board protocol that if you can't provide a link, your statement is under suspicion...doesn't matter if it's in Italian, it can be translated.

You would think this would be sourced elsewhere if it was true.

I think it's much better that they are filming the documentary in Italy, rather than in Sting's castle.

As far as my preference for new material...I'll take one of each type.

Hopefully they make it through the recording sessions in one piece!

SSSSQQQQUUUUEEEEELLLL!!!!! I don't care if the rumors are true or not, the possibility just makes me tingly. I've been keeping a "let's see what they're like at the end of the tour" outlook on the idea of new material. And, as far as I'm concerned, I'd like to see something that is a collaboration between the three of them, and represents more of their outlook on life now.
