You're totally right, aceface. I should have been more specific.
I didn't mean that "Fields" doesn't ever get played in stadiums (such as during Sting's solo concerts); I meant that "Fields" (or the equivalent) would be a less apt choice for the Police Summer Stadium Blockbuster Extravaganza thing (with all the raping and pillaging and burning down of towns and eating of children). I mean, one of these things is not like the other:
* "RRRRROOOXAAAANNNNNE!"
* "a YEAR has PASSED since I WROTE my NOTE"
* "Can't Stand LOsing YouUUUUuuuu"
* " . . . among the fields of barley . . . "
* "SO LONE-LAY! SO LONE-LAY! SO LONE-LAY!"
"King of Pain," "Tea in the Sahara," etc. are all more mellow, of course, but they share the Police sound (even "EBYT," which deserves its own hybrid anomaly category). "Fields" just has a different feel and tone. Plus, it doesn't really have much room in it for Andy or Stewart.
If they could fit a drum solo into "Fields" somewhere, then I think they'd be onto something.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.
