I just head on the all news station that the Police will play in some two-day festival in Baltimore on August. The announcement is coming tomorrow. I was only half listening so I'll half to wait for them to run the story again. It was on WTOP which you can hear steaming live at www.wtop.com

Whew! Lucky you. I thought you were going to say the HFStival, which I remember being something vaguely akin to hell on earth. ;)

Wow. The Virgin Fest is insanely good this year. Pumpkins and the Police and NIN and Chili Peppers?

And Arcade Fire?

Myyyyyy God.

Oh MY God!!!!!! I don't believe it! That's 10 minutes away from my house! I was there this year for the The Who and Red Hot Chilis.
Oh MY God!!!! Are you sure???? This is too good to be true.
If it's like last year it'll be at the end of the infield meaning general admission and people standing all smushed up against the stage.
I'll get there at 6 in the morning if I have to and not go for food or to pee so I can have a clear view of the boys. Oh man!

Sounds like a good lineup, but I can't imagine how crowded that will be.

That isn't exactly the best part of town in Baltimore, unless it's come up since I lived there. Not sure I'd want to park my car on the side streets...

Not to split hairs. But, it's a horse racing track. The Preakness is run there. That's where Barbaro broke his leg.

Nothing on TPT yet, but the Virgin Festival has launched the news on its site: http://www.virginfestival.com/2007/index.html

I was wondering why The Police were playing MGS on Friday but Giants on Sunday. Now it makes a lot more sense.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I think it's kind of awesome the guys are playing all these festivals and nontraditional venues. Just a little something different for the fans...and the band!

(And think of what we're now getting for opening bands...you guys get NIN, Bonnaroo gets White Stripes...whoopeee!)

I was thinking the same thing. It's great to see some variety -- and to see a bit of (what many supergroups would consider to be) "slumming" with the festival folks.

Ok, the SuperCat is definitely in on this, LOL...MEOW...I've already signed up for the email alerts...Beasties on the advert now...

I know this is kinda silly, but Barbaro just broke my heart...used to love horse racing but its hard for me to go...wish they'd better-space the Derby and Preakness and I wish the Triple Crown didn't carry as much cultural prestige...tradition is really hard to counter :(

Where do you live, Gina? I'm in Towson.
It's really funny. I was thinking about Pimlico just yesterday morning. When I'm really late to work I cruise down 83 instead of going thru town. The road I take to 83 is the road Pimlico is on and I was thinking of last year's VF and wondering if, just IF, there was any chance... Mmmmm....maybe my previously untapped special mental Krypton powers are starting to come thru. 8)

I live in SC now but was at Penn State for grad school (and lived several other places--NA, CA, etc.) and drive up through Baltimore otw back for committee meetings, defenses, stopping by to assure my advisor I'm still alive, & various other things I need to do periodically while finishing...

I felt the same thing when I was compelled to pickup MIAB (it was a used copy for 29.99 at the local record shop) and then found out like the next week about Stewart's movie...it was a revival of Police mania and then some more...and it hasn't really seemed to stop from there

Just saw that the Pixies and Beck are playing at the Sydney Virgin Festival...I don't think I could compose myself if the Pixies joined the US lineup...shit myself silly :D

The Beasties???????

Aw hell. I may be in for this one too. I saw the Tibet show at Randalls Island back in 96 or so and it was just unbelievable.
