Heh Tama updated Stewart's kit profile for the green sparkly StarClassic setup...(I was actually really interested to learn what pedals he used, IronCobra...Tama all the way down <grin>):

Sweet! Stewart uses the same pedals and hihat stand that I do!!!

Although I'm not too sure on the tom setup. I would hope they got it right, but I thought he scrapped the third tom over the kick, and just had two rack and two floor toms? I could be wrong. In fact I'd love to have a second floor tom like he does, and smaller depths than what I currently have.

Its hard to tell from the Rehearsal pic if you scroll down in the news sec...it looks like 2 rack and 2 floor, but I can't make it out well enough, esp. below the octobans...I have a 16 FT, which I love when I do use it, but I often times use it similarly to Buddy Rich's 2nd FT...to hold my diet coke, metronome, and cool rods <grin> It would probably get less use if I had more smaller ones too

When we moved to TX from MD a year and a half ago, I was sorely dissapointed that there's no such thing as basements in TX houses. My wife, as awesome as she is, graciously allowed me to set up in the master closet! It's a perfect drum room, on the corner of the house (all brick) and I'm slowly foaming it off to help with sound proofing. Her clothes on the one side surely helps tho!

So Drum room- BAH! Stick them in the closet!

I only wish I had a wide enough lens to take a proper pic.

Spec A - just fyi foam insulation/eggcrates/comforters on the wall do absolutely nothing to soundproof a room. good for what they call 'acoustic conditioning', but useless for sound proofing.

I guess I used the term sound proofing a little too loosely- it certainly has helped lower the decibels.

The walls are pretty much point blank in the room, so anything to re direct/absorb/whatever the soundwaves is better than nothing.

Yes I certainly think it helps keeps the sounds down inside the room, not as many echoes etc...but I just built a drum room in my basement and i thought a little plywood with some rugs stapled to the wall would be fine. After I researched it I found out I was quite mistaken...you need walls for soundproofing, the more and the thicker, the better. I used 1/2 inch plywood and regular drywall on the inside for mine. works pretty well, i can bang away on the drums and my wife can watch her dopey TV shows!! :lol:

Yeah I'm lucky- my drums were going to be out in the garage (and I was giving up my parking space!) and there was no waaay there'd be any sort of "sound proofing". What I have now is 4 walls with an 8foot ceiling, wall to wall carpeting, one wall full of hanging clothes, one wall covered in 4"thick styrofoam, and the wall with the door has an inch thick section I cover the whole wall and door with after I shut myself in. I even have an ac/heat vent (although it still gets hot in there, not as hot as it woulda been in the garage in Houston's summer!). It's a little more cramped than I'd like, but shit I can still play my drums pretty comfortably, pretty much when I want.

My toms get a good amount of abuse...I just can't resist the temptation of that nice 16" flat surface right there, so convenient...when I get a new head on that one, I'll stop! ;p

When we last moved, we looked for an extra bedroom for the drums, haha...its kinda a storage room but rather empty, wood floors, etc. so its more like a resonance chamber than anything :twisted:

but the way the house is configured, there are two sets of doors that can be shut between hubby on the comp. and the room...I think next time we move (this is likely our last rental), I might find myself like Stewart...in the next building...or truly in a woodshed :shock:
