Andy Summers and Robert Fripp box set

In the 80s, Andy Summers and Robert Fripp recorded two albums together. Some of my favorite albums. Such a unique pairing. Anyway, I head that there will be a box set related to these recordings coming out soon. I know this is not particularly STEWART related, it is my understanding that Gio either has something to do with this box set or at least has some knowledge about it. So I am hoping this post encourages Gio to provide us with some more info. If you are a fan of Andy's solo work and/or King Crimson, the Fripp Summers albums are a must listen.

I also saw somewhere (maybe a King Crimson Reddit thread) that after King Crimson's Red album in 1974, Robert Fripp wanted to restart the band with Andy Summers as the second guitarist. Of course, Fripp did not go that route, and instead teamed with Adrian Belew (of Gizmodrome) to record Discipline in 1981. However, if Summers did join Fripp after 1974, this probably prevents the One Train Later meeting that leads to Andy joining the Police.

Anyone know anything about the story about Summers possible going to KC? (and still waiting to hear from Gio about this box set)

Andy confirmed for Noise11 that the expanded album is coming. “That is coming to life again. Robert, or this guy he works with, contacted me and said ‘we want to put out the record. Are there any extra tracks?’. As it happened, Robert is in England, I am here in Los Angeles, I had all the 2-inch tapes and he asked if I would send them. He found another 12 outtakes. He put them all together and sent them back to me and I was knocked out by how good they were. I couldn’t believe we didn’t put them out on an album”.

The reissue will come out through Robert’s label. “So Robert has a little label that he puts his projects out on. He is going to put it out and I think it will get a lot of attention. I think it will be a triple package, three CDs. It is very nice”.

Andy didn’t initially think it would work but agrees there is plenty of material. “I was dubious about it but when I listened back to it and what we didn’t use, sure. I think its coming out in September”.
