"The new ‘super deluxe’ version of The Police Around The World should have been coming out in October, but I think it’s now next March. It’s taken forever got get it sorted, because of issues like restoring 16mm film and getting the extras up to 4K level. There are a lot of bonus tracks and footage, including film from Japan that’s never been seen. The performances in that film are really nice and I’ve very pleased it’s coming out. So, that’s on the way and there’s a four-disc version of Regatta De Blanc coming too, with a lot of extra tracks."

YES! Open those Vaults. I doubt there's as much in The Police vaults as there apparently is in Prince's vault, but anything would be great.

Let's hope it's not another Geraldo Rivera-type deal when he opened Al Capone's "vault." lol

I would love to have the full Police set from 1982 US Festival.

Well, reading over stories about Prince and his output, he kinda recorded like everything that had any kind of groove or beat. Not to say that's inherently a bad thing, but at some point the scope outweighs the quality?

But yeah, open the damn vaults. There probably isn't a lot of Police stuff that would see the light of day, but a 4 CD set of Regatta? I would die a happy man if it really does deliver on what I'd love to see/hear.

You mean in video form, yes? 'Cause the audio has been around for a bit.

That's great news. I can't wait.

It would, of course, be spectacular if they recorded one or two new tracks at the Sacred Grove.

One can dream.

Dear Stewart, Andy and Sting:

When you release these much-anticipated albums and videos, please make sure the liner notes and booklets are also available on iTunes.

Thank you.

That show is ready on audio and video (both remastered) since ages, but there was no agreement by all the members of the band in order to release it officially.

I've been talking about the re-release of Police Around The World and a cd with Alternative tracks and demos since 2019 and at last someone is talking about it officially now. They have been planning these releases considering that there is a long-term deal to promote the Police music, as Andy says in the interview.
A 4-disc set would probably include the original Reggatta De Blanc album, a disc with alternative tracks and (maybe) demos, but I guess it's more about alternative recordings, no new tracks (I guess 'I Wanna Know' won't be included), then maybe a double live cd set.
I have no official information by now, but I know there are not too many recordings around, beyond the ones already in the album.

What I really don't want is my Message in a Box becoming obsolete. And in one major way it cannot: the mixing is absolutely wonderful, without using cheap tricks like filters to get rid of all the "ugly hiss", and """enhance""" the sound. The latest remasters are not superior in any way, despite sounding pretty good. BUT.... a 4 disk Reggatta?? What exactly could be on those disks? Unless it is unreleased original songs..... I just don't know.

"Wanna Know" would be the only "real" finished unreleased song I know about - not counting various instrumental jams
but it was a track from "Outlandos d'Amour", so it wouldn't belong on a "Reggatta de Blanc" release

regarding alternative tracks I don't know of many, but enough to be interesting:

* Deathwish - fades out a bit later, so it's "just" a few seconds added at the end
* Bring On The Night - a much shorter version with a different guitar mix, 2nd chorus longer, no guitar solo or 3rd chorus
* It's Alright For You - main guitar is a bit louder, additional slide guitar bits during the final chorus, one vocal change
* Walking On The Moon - much longer versions exist - even with a guitar "solo"
* Message In A Bottle - a work in progress version exists

I'm pretty sure Stewart could provide demos for his songs for a special release.

Another content for the 4 CD set could be the Capital Radio session from June 13 and the John Peel session from July 23, 1979.

Dietmar, you might remember that in his book, One Train Later, Andy Summers wrote that they tried several versions of Every Little Thing. Eventually, however, they went back to Sting's original arrangement. Those might exist.

Also from Summers: The record company took their first album (or certain songs) and tried to re-mix them. Eventually, A&M concluded that the songs produced by Sting, Andy and Stewart were best left alone. Andy commented that after that, the record company never again tried to interfere. We don't need a producer, Andy has said. There are three producers in this band. Those versions might be in some vault or shelf.

Also, I wonder if there's a ditty or two from their work for Brimstone & Treacle? (Sting doesn't like to admit it, but I Burn for You was originally recorded by The Police.)

As I said before, to give the project a major boost, they can certainly get together for a few days and record new Police material.

Sting has recorded with a large number of people over the years. It's ridiculous to think he can't collaborate again with the men who helped to bring him to the dance. Even if it's merely a business decision, it's good for business. Millions of fans will love him for it.

there is at least one completely different take of Every Little Thing for sure! (as I've heard it)

there are probably loads of mixes from Brimstone different to what was released - if you compare the LP versions to the film they're definitely not the same

I can tell you Sting forgot he released this song with The Police, and that's what I know for sure (from his personal words).

I don't think that was ever officially denied. There is even footage of the band recording the track. And it was included on Message in a Box, whereas Only You was NOT (recorded with session dudes).
