OT: Ringo tour

If you have never seen Ringo and the All Starr Band, go! I saw them at the Chicago Theater on Saturday and it was incredible! I knew it would be good, but I had no idea it would be so awesome! Took a buddy who needed extreme cheering up and it worked! Richard Page (Mister Mister) sounds exactly the same as he did nearly 30 years ago! I shut my eyes on "Kyrie" and "Broken Wings" and it was 1985! Same for Steve Lukather on the Toto hits, except he got a little help on the high stuff from Richard Page and Warren Ham. And of course, Greg Rolie owning the Hammond on the Santana stuff. Then, good old Todd Rundgren on "Saw the Light" and "Bang the Drum", but the real surprise was him doing "Love is the Answer"! I had no idea he wrote that!

And do I really need to mention how tight Ringo and Greg Bissonette were? Talk about telepathy! They played the exact same fills on "Wanna Be Your Man"! And all evening, Ringo would do the tastiest stuff that totally complimented Greg's main part . And he has the coolest red sparkle kit with black hardware this time around! He played his kit most of the night, which was a very nice surprise. Greg was outstanding! He did all the percussion stuff on the Santana tunes with a pair of timbales on the left and played cowbell with his foot! And he did this solo on "Oye Como Va" that was amazing! He is a great choice and you can tell there's nowhere he'd rather be.

We had box seats and a great view AND they were the cheap seats!!! Fantastic evening! Worth every penny and then some!

I saw Ringo last month and also really enjoyed the show.

This was my third time seeing Ringo and his All Starrs, and the prior versions has much bigger stars, especiallt the first tour in about 1989 when Joe Walsh, Billy Preston, Clarence Clemmons, and a couple of guys from the Band were in the show. So in a sense the 2014 version is a let down.

But I agree with zilboy that the music was very good and the band was tight.

My biggest disappoitnment was not on the stage. I took my nearly 5 year old to the show thinking he was ready for a big concert and I was wrong. He did not care for it, including his favorite Beatles song, Yellow Submarine. So we only saw about 2/3 of the show. My son loves the 1968 animated Yellow Submarine movie with the Beatles more than seeing a real live Beatle.

I will saw that Ringo looks awfully good for a soon to be 74 year old.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

Sorry your boy didn't have fun, but a show that long is going to be tough for anyone that age. You are a good dad for trying. Took my almost 10 year- old to see Blondie when he was 3. :)

I guess most of the reason I had such a good time was that I grew up with all those guys. One gets sentimental when pushing 50.

Ringo is awesome. Saw him from the 5th row at the Ryman a couple of years ago and got some extra points and love for knowing all the words to "Photograph" (how could you not? That song is criminally underappreciated, IMO.)

Still hacked off I missed his exhibit at the Grammy Hall last year by a matter of weeks. :(

He seems to have about the perfect attitude for someone of his reknown. Love that he does the "peace and love" remembrance on his bday every year.

"Photograph" is tied with "It Don't Come Easy" as my favorite Ringo song. I remember when both were brand new. I was very young, but I remember loving them instantly.
