Dear Stewart: Please go on tour.

Dear Stewart: Please go on tour.

Postby jerseyfan on 31 Jan 2014 01:42

I am once again pleading with Stewart Copeland to go on tour with a singer.

I love the songs he wrote for the Police, many of which have not been performed live, at least not properly.

I was just listening to A Sermon. What a great song. That's also a great song to perform live. There are many others such Bombs Away, Ms. Gradenko, Darkness, On Any Other Day and, of course, Fall Out.

They can then possibly perform other Copeland instrumental tunes, plus whatever else they feel like doing. Perhaps a couple of Animal Logic tunes?

I actually can't believe this was not done long ago. Get Miles to organize the whole thing. I'll bet there are probably many already famous singers who would love to spend a summer on stage with SC and the band he puts together.

Come one Stewart. Do it! It will be awesome. It will be blast for you and for the fans.

Let's "drum up" (pun intended) a set list!

I can just hear Stew's Derangements playing as the pre-show music.

Good idea, bates.

Here's a set list. Heck, SC could sing a couple of these. Why not?

Fall Out (i.e., Fly out of a cannon to start the show.)
On Any Other Day (super-fun song)
Don't Box Me In
Too Kool To Kalypso (another super-fun song)
Birds of Prey
Equalizer Theme
Koteja
Tulsa Tango
As Soon As the Sun Goes Down
Darkness
Bombs Away
Ms. Grandenko

ENCORE
There's a Spy in The House of Love
A Sermon (killer finale)

That's 14 songs. That's one heck of a show. They could pick 2-3 more. They could perform a couple of songs by whoever is the lead singer.

OK Miles and Stewart, what are you waiting for?

Ritch In A Ditch live would be a dream. Or anything from the Klark Kent album.

Completely fantastic suggestion, jerseyfan. LOVE all of the set list suggestions. To hear just Darkness, Anyone Stare, Miss Gradenko, & Too Kool to Kalypso would even be enough.......
Maybe Stewart could do a Ben Hur pre or post concert warm-up
Or a Live album of his compositions.....

Great point, Phil.

It would really be like a debut of new material, being that it's never been performed.

Come on, fellow fans. Keep this thread going. Let's send SC a message that we're not joking. Fan really want this.

Let's go Copelands.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to who the singer can be. SC has played live with some good ones.

I just watched the amazing special on CBS with Paul and Ringo to mark the 50th anniversary of the Beatles coming to America.

I had no idea how much each member was willing to give up the spotlight for the others. I didn't know songs had been written for Ringo.

It made me think that Sting was so unlike Paul and John. It reminded me that the superstar bassist would not even give Andy the chance to have one single on Ghost released because Sting didn't write the song. It reminded me that he wouldn't sing songs Andy wrote. It remined me that he would not sing Stewart's songs live. Very Sting'gee.

Which is even more reason for Stewart to go on tour.

How about some of the lead singers from the one of the Police tribute bands that post on here from time to time? Give one of those hard working fellow fans an opportunity to shine.
This is a great idea Stewart. Even some sort of MP3 format initially, for downloading-I'd even find some sort of 'plastic' way to pay-altho' I had to use a greendot card to pay for the Ch'ville Torzilla Show since it wasn't ticketmonster, and couldn't do cash locally. After I paid up over the phone, there was only maybe $3 balance left on it-and it got 'hacked' away w/in a month!!!!! So, on second thought, I'd rather have a CD or do it like Adam Ant did, and produce vinyl.
