"New and improved online store" for The Police

Postby TheEqualizer on 26 Mar 2014 16:59

Got this email, the pertinent portions read:

QUOTE

On this day in 1978 The Police were signed to A&M Records. The signing came only 8 months after the band played their first gig as a three-piece comprised of Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers under The Police moniker.

In his memoir Broken Music, Sting recalled the day: "All the A&M executives and company accountants supposedly have copies of 'Roxanne' in their tape decks, and we are told it is the first record in a long time that the promotion staff have asked to hear more than once. Stewart, Andy, and I go to the plush company offices off the Fulham Road, where the president, Derek Green, greets us like long-lost sons, and 'Roxanne' is playing triumphantly on the sound system throughout the entire building."

The anniversary of this milestone date was chosen to announce the opening of The Police's new and improved online store, which includes exclusive apparel and accessories, key titles in the band's catalog and great deals on memorabilia. Take a look around and be sure to check back often, as new items will be added regularly.

We've also improved accessibility at ThePolice.com so that visiting both the site and the store on your mobile phone or tablet will now be a much more user-friendly experience. Due to the implementation of these updates, we will need you to update your passwords.

You can reclaim your profile on The Police community using the link below. For security reasons, you will be asked to reset your password. Feel free to use your current one if you’d like.

Haven't been to the Police.com in a long while. Sorry to say, but not too impressive.

I was bummed by the shitty selection, to be honest. I mean, the outerwear section just leads to a repeat of the t-shirts and men's apparal...wut? I was hoping I could maybe get another one of the hoodies I bought during the tour which I've nearly worn to ragged bits at this point. Granted, I'm tempted by the retro- 3/4sleeve GITM shirt but that's about it.

And this is the grand relaunch of the store?!?!

It is sort of nice to see the message board functioning again. But color me skeptical and curious about the timing of this "relaunch".

I was hoping they had a Toast in the Machine shirt. I am kicking myself for not getting one at the final show.

sockii, they probably still have a warehouse full of the stuff left over from the mega-tour and they're trying to make some cash. Not that any of the boys need the money.

Sockii: that is so true.
The only item that will turn my head is if they sell the Primal Wear Cycling blue shirt with the GITM white calculator faces on it that Stewart used in the last show.
Back by public demand!!!

I want that one too, but I think the best chance of getting that is by breaking into Dietmar's house.

I would also like the one that everyone hated. Man, its been too long. Can't remember what everyone used to call it. It was worn in that Pro Shot video from the second leg of the tour. Dang. Can't believe I already can't remember.

I was confused for a minute between the Coolbreeze and the GITM jerseys. Carry on.

I swear they were selling that for a while...but it disappeared quickly. That is, there was a cycling jersey you could get that was the Ghost logo but it was black and red, not blue. So yeah.

My blue Regatta T shirt and grey Regatta thermal are in tatters. The Ghost t shirt and black Zenyatta thermal are still hanging in there, although the thermal is so thin it's only got one side. I rarely wear the green checkered T shirt that I bought on impulse. My wife got me a grey version for Christmas that's a lot more comfortable, so I guess I'm good for a while yet.

Sockii: originaly, there were 2 GITM cycling jerseys. One was black with regular red "faces" and the blue one with white faces (this one lasted only for a week or two and is was completely sold out). this was the one used by stewart in the last show. Then, the black one (also used by Stewart in the Tokyo shows) was sold out as well.

Poor Dietmar, but that is probably the true deal there! I am going to check it out (the laptop was slow/slow in wanting to open ANY of my emails, so lost patience) because I don't want to wear out the 2 shirts I did get, need at least one back-up/emergency Police T  .
